... I had to laugh at her saying, oh everyone says it was a big performance, then they say I'm a shitty actor, so which is it? That's kinda true. ... i don't agree. they said it was a big performance, not a good performance. i think depp's team was consistent with pointing out her poor acting skills which was a big part of their strategy. how could this trial possibly hurt her career when she is such a poor actress? so then she can't claim that he hurt her career.\

Then, they turn around and agree on one of the three counts in Amber's case, saying she was defamed when Depp's attorney spread it on the internet that her claims of abuse were a "hoax". How could he have defamed her if the jury also didn't believe her claims of abuse? The defamation wasn't in calling her claims a hoax. The defamation was in claiming that she & her friends roughed up the apartment, spilled wine, & called the 911 a second time to show the police. The police bodycam showed no damage to the penthouse, so that couldn't have happened. Hence, them awarding her on that one count.

Johnny Depp Ordered to Pay ACLU $38,000 ... Even Though He Won Against Amber 7/1/2022 4:51 PM PT So, this is ironic ... Amber Heard lost Johnny Depp's defamation case in no small part because she lied about donating half her divorce settlement to the ACLU ... and now a judge has awarded the ACLU $38,000 ... and guess who has to pay -- NOT AMBER. Here's the deal ... Johnny's legal team subpoenaed documents from the ACLU to prove Amber never anted up the cash. According to the ACLU, they had to produce 1900 documents and that took a lot of time. The org asked the judge to order Johnny to pay $86,000 for the time and expenses associated with the document production. Johnny's lawyers called BS, saying the tab was "exorbitant and unreasonable." The judge sided with Johnny and cut the bill pretty much in half ... so now Johnny has to pay $38,000. As you know, Johnny won the case against Amber, so you might think she'd have to pay the costs that were incurred to reach a verdict ... a verdict squarely against her insofar as Johnny's defamation case is concerned. But, that's not the law, so Johnny has to pay. Thing is ... it sounds like Johnny isn't going to take it to the mat and make Amber pay the $8.35M net judgment. So, even though he won, he's left holding the bag with the ACLU. So, pretty much ... everyone got screwed.
And also
Johnny Depp is set 'to return' to Pirates of the Caribbean and is in talks with Disney about '$300 million deal' after defamation trial win against Amber Heard
The actor, 59, was the major lead in five Pirates movies over the past 15 years He was dropped by the Disney franchise in 2018 after the release of Dead Men Tell No Tales A source told Poptopic that the media house is working on a '$301 million deal' to coax Depp back Depp sued Heard over the Washington Post op-ed in 2018 that didn't identify him, but clearly branded him as a domestic abuser The Edward Scissorhands star told the jury he would not work with Disney again after executives made him feel 'guilty until proven innocent'
And then....
Rep sets record straight on Johnny Depp's rumored $300M Disney deal
Johnny Depp fans were ecstatic when they found out the actor was reportedly set 'to return' to Pirates of the Caribbean after being dropped from the franchise in 2018. However, it's unlikely the star, 59, will be returning to his iconic role as Jack Sparrow (pictured) as his official representative has spoken out on the report. They have denied the claims that Depp has been in talks with Disney about a '$300 million deal' and told NBC News: 'This is made up'.

TMZ is so full of crap. Johnny's team are who subpoenaed the documents so of course they are the ones who owe for the cost of producing those documents. The judge apparently agreed that the billed amount was not reasonable so he reduced it. End of story.
As for the Pirates story, it will be interesting to see what happens because Johnny declared he would never go back to Disney no matter what was offered but it WAS his biggest role and what gave him his fortune which he squandered. He won't ever make that kind of bank ever again, so I'm sure it would be tempting if there's any truth to it. I really had no idea Jack Sparrow was such a beloved character, I've never seen any of the Pirates movies but I do know they made a fortune.

I also thought that not having the Disney contract was the backbone of the defamation suit as in2018 when the article came out Depp & Disney parted ways. If this $300m contract is legit it kind of makes a mockery of his whole case.

Anyway they missed out the part about him not working with them again for $300 million and a million alpacas. No alpacas have been offered so far so we can assume that this is just someone trying to spin an old quote into a new story to generate speculation and website hits/revenue.

They need to let that franchise die. The last instalment was nothing but painful to watch

The way this guy spends money, I bet he takes a deal with Disney. By the way, he says all kinds of deranged insincere crap when the moment moves him, so why wouldn't his vow to not work with Disney again for "all the money in the world!" just be more his blather?

Yep. All of the above. Spendthrift with extra expensive habits that require a steady cash flow to maintain. No self-control/self-discipline. Shit-talker whose word means jack shit.
Exactly why I'm also putting my money on him taking a deal with Disney. In fact, I think the only way this won't happen is if someone else offers him more money than Disney. And I don't see that happening, frankly.
I'm also curious which young and dumb upcoming starlet he's going to end up in another toxic relationship with.
I'm also gonna throw this little conspiracy theory out there:
Is there a small chance this whole televised US courtroom drama with Amber was a set up (that she was paid off to participate in) to get him back working again?

^^^I found that the courtroom drama damaged his reputation even further. The randomness in which he talked about abuse, drugs, alcohol... imho he ruined himself in order to ruin AH.

That's my opinion too, but I know several people who were glued to this trial and seem to think he's a hero who was preyed upon by an evil woman so I'm sure he has a large enough group of people who will pay money to see whatever he stars in.
Just not sure there's a studio that wants to deal with the expense/liability involved with keeping an unstable addict on the payroll. Definitely not for the kind of bank he's gotten in the past.

I agree with you both, but apparently we're in the minority, since the jury bought it as did the majority of the public, if social media is any indication. He just treated his addictions as if it was a big joke, yet people seem to think he's some lovable drunk. Well I think he's an abusive drunk. After his behavior on the last Pirates, I don't know how Disney could want him back but ya know, money talks. And now that he's been "vindicated" they no longer have to worry about being associated with a "wife beater". I guess they can only call him that in the UK now.

They need to let that franchise die. The last instalment was nothing but painful to watch I liked the first one. Didn’t care for the second one, so I never watched anymore beyond that. And if they do make another sequel & want him in it, I sincerely doubt he’ll get anything even close to $300k. And I think he’d take whatever they’re offering because I’m pretty sure he needs the $. I could be wrong. This is just my opinion about it.

I could be wrong. This is just my opinion about it. If he was offered a sequel/prequal/whatever I reckon that a large part of the $300m would be a percentage of the backend, not payment up front. But..... Since he said he's not doing it & is re-banding the Dramatic Vampires or whatever his band is called ...
