Last night, there was an Ari Aster double feature (on Starz, I think) - Midsommar, followed by Hereditary. I think I've seen Midsommar about 4 times, and Hereditary about 20. Masterpieces! You have good taste in movies! We watched a Nic Cage film called Next. It was ok, more like a TV movie-of-the-week type thing, but ok for passing the time. I'll watch just about any Nic Cage movie. While I was getting ready for work this morning "Season of the Witch" was on. Cage plays a world-weary medieval crusader who is supposed to bring a beautiful witch back for a trial or something. Ron Perlman is in there, too, as his best friend. Pretty watchable in a comic-book way. Which describes almost everything he's done in the past 15 years. Another one that comes on all the time is "Drive Angry" about a religious cult and loosely based on "Paradise Lost". His character is even named "Milton". And Amber Heard is in it. He has another cool movies that comes on pretty regularly called "Knowing". I don't want to give away the plot too much but he and his son are seeing mysterious signs around them, and they are pointing to a future event that he is trying to put together in a race against time. Great ending. Especially the VERY end.

i haven't seen it yet but yeah, after the rave reviews of cage's performance, it's surprising. i'm glad house of gucci got snubbed, it's a piece of trash. i was so looking forward to seeing it but it's dreadful and unwatchable.

Watched The Last Duel and I am FUMING For all of his anti-millennial boomer rant, Scott need to pull his head out of his ass and take a long hard look in the mirror because that film was TRASH Way too long, boring, bland and uninteresting characters, plus gratuitous animal cruelty and a gruesome rape scene that is forced on the viewer not once, BUT TWICE. I can’t believe someone in 2021 greenlit that shit. By trying way too hard to be me too friendly and female empowering the film actually manages to be extremely offensive - I am beyond sick of seeing women abuse still used as a shock factor / plot point in movies The only good thing I have to say is that some background characters have nice costumes. That’s it That film was crap. And I don’t think it bombed because millennials were on their phones, Ridley. Thanks for the review, we were planning to watch this and now, no freaking way!

Finally watched The French Dispatch - it is PEAK Wes Anderson. It is so Wes Anderson that it almost looks like a pastiche of Wes Anderson and I loved it. But it definitely is for Wes Anderson fans.

House of Gucci: I wanna see it just cause. Even though I know it's probably trash.
But am I going to be completely pissed I wasted my time?

Oh, forgot to add, we saw Death on the Nile. It was meh. Too much CGI. Even French & Saunders couldn't save it.

I was tempted to watch that because I love vintage crime like Agatha Christie but I wasn't sure if I could get past my irrational dislike of Kenneth Branagh and his tendency to ham all over the screen. I think I'll give it a miss now.
