We went and saw the new Scream movie. It was good. Loved that it was just Krissy, jimmy and myself. I love when that happens.

I haven’t seen one in a Theatre post March 2020 yet, but man...in a city to which I travel, they have a fancy one...recliner seats and such. plus I want to go to a Sidewalk Cinema show (Birmingham’s independent theatre festival).

I can't even remember the last time I was in a theater. I think it was 2018-2019 on a date. Probably the last time I had one of those too.
But the last movie I watched at home? Probably something on Netflix or Hulu or HBOMax.

Finally watched Don’t look up. Overall I like it despite it being very smug and preaching to the choir. I didn’t think it was as clever as it thought it was, but I like the fact that climate scientists finally felt heard and validated, good for them ^^

Last night, there was an Ari Aster double feature (on Starz, I think) - Midsommar, followed by Hereditary. I think I've seen Midsommar about 4 times, and Hereditary about 20. Masterpieces!

I watched Twilight (1998) with Paul Newman, Gene Hackman, Susan Sarandon, James Garner, Reese Whitherspoon, Liev Schreiber, Stockard Channing. Surprised I never saw it before. Give me seasoned, effortless actors. LA detective, noir type of story. Not great, but I didn't care. Perfectly gorgeous Paul, stunning Susan and shocked the hell out of me when in the first scene there's old Reese topless walking around like nothing. Liev had 1/2 second full frontal. Paul at 73, laying in bed, had all the sex appeal and handsomeness he had for decades. Never hit a wrong note, never had a bad angle, never took a bad photo.

I didn’t think it was as clever as it thought it was, but I like the fact that climate scientists finally felt heard and validated, good for them ^^ i liked parts of it but it feels unfinished, both the script and the characters. it feels like a rough first draft of a film that still needs a lot of editing. and i also agree that it feels like preaching to the choir but maybe hopefully people who aren't news junkies or converts yet will watch it? i watched 'the little things' which is a movie i probably never would have watched based on the reviews alone but my mom and i were out of ideas and my brother recommended it. it's a mixed bag but it's also thoroughly entertaining while you're watching it. jared leto is almost unrecognizable but he can't hide the creep with prosthetics and wigs, it always finds a way to come through.

haven't seen hereditary but midsommar is fucking amazing. hereditary was shockingly hard for me to watch. There's a rawness to it that just got right up under my skin. I'm not sure I'd ever watch it again. BUT, it is on my list of only two movies that did something so unexpected it took my breath away, and I have lots of respect for a film that does that.

Our daughter was the one who told me we should watch "Hereditary". It's a horrifying movie, especially if you are a parent. Some of the things that happen at the beginning, and very end, of the movie, are so out there, that I think it would never have been greenlighted in the 1970's. But I love that there is nothing like it. Last year, our daughter personally made me a birthday present that is a miniature version of the theatrical movie poster, in a tiny frame. I've watched the movie at least 30 times (if I'm flipping cable channels, and it's one, I'll keep watching it.) Not only does "Midsommar" have a great, original story, it seems almost like a response to a personal challenge - how can you create a horror movie that takes place in broad, sunny daylight? Totally original plot. I just remember the total shock as each of the following scenes unfolded. ETA (10 pm, EST) - "Hereditary" and "Midsommar" are on two different Showtime channels at the same time right now!

Watched The Last Duel and I am FUMING For all of his anti-millennial boomer rant, Scott need to pull his head out of his ass and take a long hard look in the mirror because that film was TRASH Way too long, boring, bland and uninteresting characters, plus gratuitous animal cruelty and a gruesome rape scene that is forced on the viewer not once, BUT TWICE. I can’t believe someone in 2021 greenlit that shit. By trying way too hard to be me too friendly and female empowering the film actually manages to be extremely offensive - I am beyond sick of seeing women abuse still used as a shock factor / plot point in movies
The only good thing I have to say is that some background characters have nice costumes. That’s it
That film was crap. And I don’t think it bombed because millennials were on their phones, Ridley.

I haven't watched 'Wicker Man' but I've been told that it's pretty well the 70's version of 'Midsommar' ... seems a thing I should try out. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wicker_Man

I don't think I could watch either Hereditary or Midsommar, especially Midsommar. I don't do well with creepy cult people. There is this movie from the 70s called Crowhaven Farm. I don't recall how I saw it -- I'm sure it was one of those 3:30 movies that my sister would watch after school (she's a lot older than me and was in high school) It's about the coven of witches, and there was time travel... anyway, the protagonist gets pressed under a door with all the community members putting rocks on her. Scared the absolute crap out of me. To this day, I can't watch anything that is about cults or witches, etc. Brings me straight back.
Last night daughter Tulip and I watched Midnight in the Switchgrass. It wasn't horrible, but it was bad, and we having fun ripping it, especially b/c this is where Megan Fox and MGK met and realized they're "twin flames" or whatever. Worth the money for the laughs.
Went to the theater a few times over the past 6 weeks. Love having it to ourselves!
