I don't think I could watch either Hereditary or Midsommar, especially Midsommar. I don't do well with creepy cult people. There is this movie from the 70s called Crowhaven Farm. I don't recall how I saw it -- I'm sure it was one of those 3:30 movies that my sister would watch after school (she's a lot older than me and was in high school) It's about the coven of witches, and there was time travel... anyway, the protagonist gets pressed under a door with all the community members putting rocks on her. Scared the absolute crap out of me. To this day, I can't watch anything that is about cults or witches, etc. Brings me straight back. Last night daughter Tulip and I watched Midnight in the Switchgrass. It wasn't horrible, but it was bad, and we having fun ripping it, especially b/c this is where Megan Fox and MGK met and realized they're "twin flames" or whatever. Worth the money for the laughs. Went to the theater a few times over the past 6 weeks. Love having it to ourselves! The end of Crowhaven Farm scared the crap out of me! I also saw it after school on the 4:30 movie. I try to describe it to hubs, but he has no idea what I'm talking about.

Mr. Tulip has no idea what I'm talking about either!

We don't talk about Bruno, no, no ... (This has been stuck in my head this Christmas It's ok though, the songs in that film are awesome)

I watched Playground (Un monde).
From Rotten Tomatoes: Seven year-old Nora and her big brother Abel are back to school. When Nora witnesses Abel being bullied by other kids, she rushes to protect him by warning their father. But Abel forces her to remain silent.
A beautyful and heartbreaking movie, shot (literally) from Nora's perspective.

I’ve seen The Wicker Man and it was whack. Hereditary was intriguing until the end scene. Watched The 355 today and, much like I hope there is a sequel to Ocean’s 8, hope there is a sequel to The 355.

Sorry I can't get hold of this format yet, and this is not Sputnik replying, it's me Manxmouse: You should really see Hereditary. Toni Collette's performance is gold. There is one scene where she has a meltdown and it's kind of like every woman's/mother's catharsis where she says "NO ONE EVER TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANYTHING!" Everything she delivered in that film really resonated with me, and it goes beyond the specific storyline. Which, at any rate, was a very evocative take on 60's/70's cult-related horror movies. Gabriel Byrne was good in it too. Think we should do gossip rocks simultaneous viewing events...

Pride And Prejudice And Zombies. Could have been fun but was actually pretty wank.

The 2006 was one of the worst films I think I've ever watched but I loved the original.

"Nightmare Alley" by Guillermo del Toro. It's a 2021 film, and I was really looking forward to watching it. It came on twice this weekend, and I was kind of watching it casually each time while I was in the kitchen. it was a snoozefest. Just Bradley Cooper and Rooney Mara and Kate Blanchett talking endlessly - at least from what I could see. Like "Crimson Peak". I also found out it was a remake of a film from about 70 years ago. It must have been a favorite film of del Toro's or something. Bleh.

Last night, there was an Ari Aster double feature (on Starz, I think) - Midsommar, followed by Hereditary. I think I've seen Midsommar about 4 times, and Hereditary about 20. Masterpieces! You have good taste in movies! We watched a Nic Cage film called Next. It was ok, more like a TV movie-of-the-week type thing, but ok for passing the time.
