leftover veggie stir fry from last night and a green salad with anchovy vinaigrette, which is my latest obsession. seriously, make it. it's the fucking bomb and super easy. the original recipe is for radicchio but i can't find any in lima so i just made it with plain romaine lettuce and you could do it with anything. it would also be amazing just drizzled over steamed veggies. i'm hooked. Yield: 4 servings 2tablespoons lemon juice 1tablespoon Dijon mustard 2teaspoons chopped anchovy 1garlic clove, pounded to a paste 3tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil Salt and black pepper I wonder if anchovy paste would work. I ran out but have it on the shopping list.

^^^^ i'm sure it would. you might have to adjust the amounts as the paste might be saltier or less salty depending on the brand. i don't really measure hte anchovies anyway just add until it tastes good (and i don't add salt since i'd rather just add more anchovies).

^^ yes, the only kind I can get locally has 940 mg sodium per tbsp, so I use it very sparingly. I will try it with the paste once I replenish, and report back.

Tried and tested with the paste! I really like it, very savory. Husband, who is not an anchovy fan, didn’t like it until I added a few capers and a dash of honey to his portion, that worked. 😎

^^^ congrats on the blender, they are vital tools. i use mine every day, usually more than once. Now i want cauliflower soup! Was going to make butternut squash soup on the weekend, the squash was rotten, phhh.
I bought some white (shiro) Eden miso recently, very nice taste and not as salty as genmai. It makes a nice dressing for greens, i really like it on spinach salad with grapefruit or oranges:
3 tablespoons white miso 2 tablespoons sesame oil (untoasted, ive used toasted and it dominates) 1 tablespoon rice vinegar 1 tablespoon orange juice ½ tablespoon soy sauce or tamari ½ tablespoon maple syrup or honey (or sugar)
Mix really well and use. I sometimes add ginger or garlic and blend til smooth.

Sput - where do you get your ideas from? all over the place, i guess? i've always liked to play around with recipes rather than follow them and that leads to some good discoveries. i also follow a lot of food people on instagram - for recipes but also great just for ideas. the only thing i pay for is a subscription to NYT cooking which is amazing, and ottolenghi's books. i guess i just mix and match things from different recipes based on what ingredients i have on hand and what i'm in the mood for and there's little tricks i've picked up along the way that i always do. like adding a huge bunch of greens (chards, lentil, kale, whatever you have on hand) to any kind of lentil or chickpea or bean stew i make. they wilt and blend in and it's a great way to sneak a ton of green veggies into your food. also, sometimes just googling the ingredients you have on hand and 'soup' or 'stew' will bring up recipes that you can look through and see which one would work for what you have, which is what i did for the cauliflower and pumpkin soup. the recipe i took inspiration from also included corn and lemon zest and a bunch of other stuff i just ignored.

Just came back from a night market here in Taiwan. I had: rice with shrimps, steamed in a bamboo. Then corn in a cup with melted cheese. Also some fried sweet potato balls. And something like mochi on a stick, thrown on the bbq, topped with peanuts and condensed rice. And I wanted some peanut icecream wraps but I couldn't eat anymore. So I bought some fresh fruit instead and went back to my airbnb. Now I'm feeling like a puffer fish.

We were in Sacramento last week and went to Mendocino Farms in Midtown. I guess they have them in Texas too but we'd never heard of it. I had this, it was one of the best salads I've ever had: Pink Lady Beets & Goat Cheese Salad - Shaved, roasted chicken breast, honey and herb marinated goat cheese, pink lady beets, green apples, dried cranberries, crushed honey roasted almonds, red onions, mixed greens, chopped romaine with citrus vinaigrette. Daughter had the Chicken Pesto Caprese sandwich - shaved, roasted chicken breast, fresh mozzarella, marinated red peppers, basil pesto, mixed greens, balsamic glaze drizzle on panini-pressed ciabatta. She loved hers as well, and we were glad to find out they have a location near where she'll be going to school in the fall
