Our asshole HOA decided that because the aged oak trees on the edge of our property suffered injury during the Great Texas Freeze, they would chop them down as opposed to trying to let them recover. They planted a couple of wimpy replacements, one of which is already dead. The oak trees were coming back They weren't actually on our property but provided a lot of shade, especially for my bathroom window. Dumb.

We will have to cut our apple tree soon, it's a very, very old tree and it's way past its time. The gardener said it basically died about three years ago but didn't notice it yet. I will be very sad, but at the same time I'll be glad because I'm scared of the branches when it's windy. Both neighbours to our left and right side have fir trees that are way too tall. One is so tall it's getting dangerous because it bends too much when it's windy, and the other one is blocking out the whole sun and view. But yeah, there's nothing we can do (or want to do) about it.

They also have very shallow roots. A friend of ours had hers fall through her daughter's bedroom window and crush her bed during a storm. Luckily, the family was out of town and on vacation when it happened.

we will have to cut down one of our redwoods, it only a few inches from our roofline and in a big storm would probably hit our house (the tall ones sway with big wind). our neighbors are gonna be pissed. i was thinking of cutting into the eaves instead to create more space for the redwood (the trunk gets thicker as it grows taller) but the roofline would look really weird. the arborist will come tomorrow to give us his edict.

It will hit houses if it falls in 3 directions as it is so tall now + the idiots that live opposite have cut the roots on smaller trees before now......

followup on the redwood: arborist says we don't have to take down the whole tree. he says he can top it off (trim about 20-30 feet from the top) and that would take away the 'sail' - arborist speak for the natural sway in redwoods. if the tree doesn't sway, it won't hit our house. we may still get a contractor to remove the gutters from that side, just to be sure. so yay!

You just reminded me of a situation we faced when my mom passed away. All kinds of trees - many damaged. We consulted an arborist and had some trees taken down, but some trees trimmed to stabilize them. We spent a lot, but saved even more. After the work was done, a giant, damaging storm passed through, and we didn't lose a single branch. Rave - Mrs Mo was off yesterday, but did the following: - Lifted weights with me at the gym
- Had two doctor's appointments
- Attended a lecture (given by a friend) with our son at his university
- Came back up to our daughter's university and had lunch with her
- Got the car our kids share inspected and cleared for another two years
- Went to happy hour with our friend from APL
- Finally had dinner with me at Chipotle (only place open by the time we were both available, LOL)

chipotle's good! i 'rediscovered' it recently when my sister was visiting and my nieces (who are 8 and 5) love it so we had lunch there a couple of times when we were out and they were both on the verge of hanger attacks and we weren't going to make it home before they had meltdowns.

Rant: Dark Jr and I have been living out of this since last Wednesday when my fridge stopped cooling: So yesterday we spent a few hours pulling off back panel of the fridge, cleaning it out, plugging back in and looked like everything was working fine. But 24 hrs later the temps of the freezer/fridge were 34/54. So I guess I should just be happy I got 20 years out of my Kenmore side by side. The Old Rave: Went to look around today, Lowe's had a 36 mos no interest special going on right now AND I found a fridge we liked. It'll be here Tuesday. Whirlpool. 26.8 cu ft. Stainless steel. French doors. Bottom freezer. Dual icemaker. The New

every thread can be an appliance thread given the right circumstances awesome fridge, msd, i'm super jealous. mine works but it's tiny and every time i get groceries it's like tetris except tetris is fun and trying to fit everything in there most definitely is not.
