Maybe they just haven't visited the GR FB page lately. Not everyone checks daily, or several times daily *cough* *not speaking of myself of course*

Rave - our son has an interview with Yale tomorrow. And is supposed to talk to Princeton. He actually got his application in after the deadline with Princeton and they still contacted him about an interview. I don't know what will happen, but if "I" had applied to Yale, they would have sent a letter back saying, "Let's just pretend you never heard of this place."

The Pie Chart Kids are doing so great. I was wondering if you were here and just hit me with the dumb stick because I looked at the name, then looked at the avatar, then looked back at the name... any idea what the kids want in the way of careers? OH I SEE THIS QUOTING/POSTING IS GOING TO BE A LEARNING CURVE FOR ME.

Thx, Chalet. Our son wants to be a software engineer. I wonder if he will stick with that, though. I think our daughter wants to work for an animation studio. Wherever our son goes, I hope it's not too far from our daughter. She adores him and would be really, really hurt if he were in some far off place from where she goes to school.

Update on my sister's one-of-a-kind, never-been-done-before open-heart surgery: (Brief version: My 72-year-old sister has a clot in her lung that has scar tissue and has also attached itself to her heart, so it has to be removed. The reason the surgery has never been done before is that it's never been discovered in a living person before - only during an autopsy.)
Last week, they told her that because of Omicron she would not be allowed to have even one person with her in the hospital. She's going to be admitted on Monday, but she can't have anyone come inside. They will allow her daughter to be in the hospital during the surgery, which will be on the 27th and will last between 8 to 12 hours. (Yikes) After the surgery, the doctor will come out and talk to my niece (my sister's only child) to let her know how it went, but after that, she can't come into the hospital. The doctors have emphasized that my niece can call them at any time, but we'll all have to communicate with my sister via phone, face-time, etc.
Today, my niece tested positive for Covid. (sigh) She's been vaxed & boosted, so we are hoping she'll be over it by the 27th, but we'll just have to see. My poor niece is beside herself, and I can tell it bothers my sister a lot, but she is trying to focus on the positive and roll with the not-so-positive.
Meanwhile, physically she is finally starting to resemble someone not quite at superpower status - it's getting much more difficult to walk around. She stopped driving herself a couple of days ago because she's having spells of near-fainting. But, you know, she is still walking around. So, still a superhero to me. I love her so much and wish I could help her somehow - especially from this imposed isolation. She's a people person, too (unlike me!) so it's tough on her.

I've been thinking about your sister recently. I'll be praying for her and your niece. Worry is natural here. If you think it would help, let her know that you have a group rooting (and praying) for her here. 💜💜💜
