I think these two deserve their own thread. We never discussed much about the show or the book or the latest news. To avoid bombarding the thread with multiple stories, I'll start with this one: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's children have officially been named as prince and princess on the Royal Family's official website.
It comes the day after Prince Harry and Meghan announced their daughter Lilibet had been christened and they used the title princess for the first time. Archie, three, and Lilibet, one, are named as the Prince and Princess of Sussex on the line of succession page. They are sixth and seventh in line to the throne. Previously they were listed as Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor. The rules governing the titles of royal children were set out by King George V - Queen Elizabeth's grandfather - in 1917. Archie and Lilibet were not prince and princess at birth, because they were not grandchildren of the monarch, but they gained the right to these titles when King Charles acceded to the throne. A spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan said: "The children's titles have been a birthright since their grandfather became monarch. "This matter has been settled for some time in alignment with Buckingham Palace." It comes after the couple announced that Lilibet, who was born in June 2021, had been christened at their home in California. The Right Reverend John Harvey Taylor, the Bishop of Los Angeles, presided over the christening last Friday. Prince Harry and Meghan relocated to the United States after stepping down as working royals in 2020. www.bbc.com/news/uk-64901227

Chris Rock touched upon MM in his Netflix show. It made me think of one thing - if you're going to marry into an historical family get some history books and read. It can't hurt.

He was rough but really, really, funny. Not in particular about Harry and Meghan - I didn't think his stuff about her was awful, just a bit of ironic side eye, but other parts of his show were tough. The bits at the end about Will Smith and the slap seen around the world? That was on point, a long time coming, and savage. I died.

As it should be IMHO and WS being a whiney bitch & wanting it all to just go away - actions have consequences....

I mean, the Princesss Royal and Prince Edward are working royals and decided to not give their offspring titles. Harry and Meghan are not working royals, harry just had a book out to bash the RF and yet - they desperately wanted titles for their kids and got them now.
That's just ridiculous.

Anne's kids don't have titles at all while Edward + Sophie's kids are a viscount + a lady and will not work as working royals when they are adults.
Andrews girls are both princesses.
It's the parent choice + given the perceived feeling toward the mixed race kids by the courtiers I can see why Harry wanted them.
A title doesn't mean fuck until you go through passport control.

^^^ I get all of that, but I still find it strange. It seems like Harry wants the privileges of being a royal, but has a problem with his family and the restrictions/work, and somehow that distinction got a bit lost.

i didn't have a problem with H&M giving their kids titles. aside from the PoC point (as Nov said), i assumed he wanted to give his kids a choice that they could make when they were of age.
and i didn't read harry's book so don't know 100%, but from the excerpts, it doesn't sound like he did a ton of bashing. there was probably a lot of dirt he omitted.
eta: also, correct me if i am wrong ... i thought that H&M wanted to do royal work but not in the UK, and QEii said No.

Yeah I thought spoilt Billy stuck out his pet lip + a corgi tripped over it if H&M were going to be Global Royal Super stars instead of him & his boring wife; so it was declined.
🤣🤣🤣

eta: also, correct me if i am wrong ... i thought that H&M wanted to do royal work but not in the UK, and QEii said No. I thought they wanted to be part time royals regardless of continent. I thought the title thing was basically by royal rules or what have you. The King's grandchildren are granted titles. Not nieces or nephews or cousins or whatever. So now that Charles is King, he bestows the titles. What I found interesting about the story was that there are established rules yet there was all the hub bub when M&H had a baby and he wasn't automatically titled. It was deemed a snub. But it wasn't.

^^^ yeah, it wasn't a snub. i didn't get that ... maybe H&M thought the rules might change when chuck was crowned? not sure.
i never thought they wanted to be p/t... i just thought they wanted to leave the UK. originally, they wanted to go to africa and QEii said No.

You might be right. There was so much stuff flying around about them back then I couldn't keep track. I do remember them saying they wanted privacy.

i don't even think they said they wanted privacy ... they said they didn't want to be attacked in the media. another talking point taken by the anti-H&M crew. and there are a lot of them.
i'm pretty neutral about them, i just don't like all the lies in the media. for example, there's one white-haired tattoo'd lady on TT who went on like a menstrual stain saying that meghan bullied charlotte and called her FAT. which i don't believe happened. and you should see all the negative MM comments.
