I'm wondering how far his ego is going to carry him, assuming he makes it to trial. Namely whether he'll follow his lawyers advice and keep his mouth shut and not take the stand or whether he'll be arrogant enough to try and micromanage his defence and think he can outwit the prosecution.

Knife sheath: DNA profile obtained from metal securing button PA trash: DNA profile (alleged of suspect's father)
Dylan(one of 2 people left alive in house): heard 'wimpering', dog barking, 'suspect' walks past her and out sliding doors.
Cell phone tracking record from night of murders, previous to night, route back to PA.

The thing with Dylan, the roommate/witness freaks me out. Did HE see HER on his way out? Why didn't she call police/someone until noon the next day -- was it just shock and terror or maybe her phone was elsewhere as she huddled in her locked room? She was close enough to hear victim say "there's someone here" and him say something like "I'm going to help you" ?? The whole scenario is so strange and illogical.

It says in the statement that she froze, so that could be what saved her. It was dark and she made no movements to draw attention to herself so he could have just walked past her without realising. As for why she didn't call the police, well it was a student house and she was probably semi used to all kinds of people coming and going at all hours (that was certainly the case when I lived with a bunch of students in a houseshare). There was no screaming, no obvious sounds of fighting or violence and she'd heard one of her housemates talking so there wasn't really much reason to think that some lunatic had just stabbed four people to death. If I'd called the police every time I encountered someone I didn't know in my shared house then they'd never have been off the doorstep. |

On ABC World News Tonight, they said the surviving roommate described the guy as wearing a mask. While that normally would sound suspicious, I keep forgetting we live in COVID times....

This still reminds me so much of the Bundy Chi Omega killings. He only attacked 4 people, and a witness briefly saw him as he was leaving. Of course, this isn't the 70s anymore so there's so much more evidence. DNA, cell phone, surveillance videos. I was telling the Mr, let this be a lesson, if you're going to commit a crime like this, turn your freaking cell phone off, steal a car and don't drive your own car to the crime and don't stalk the house before and after the crime in your own car. And of course, DNA. Leaving that sheath from the knife was a BIG fuck up.
I thought they did a good job of tracking his whereabouts with the surveillance and cell phone activity. It's too bad the witness roommate didn't call 911 but I do understand why. The house had seen some police activity due to party/noise complaints in the past so maybe she didn't want to draw anymore attention when she didn't know what happened.
