Also, rumor has it he asked LE, "was anyone else arrested?'

I think he's a Ted Bundy wannabe. Would have been a serial killer if not caught. (Possible he's killed before this though)

^ Unless he has more than one sister I don't think that is true. This article says his sister is a nurse who lives in New Jersey.

Me too. Really curious what, if any, connection there is. I have a feeling he may have been stalking. They said his school was less than 10 miles to the apartment.

I'm going to go with "to see if he could do it and get away with it thanks to what he'd learned in his studies".  Criminology is a fascinating field of study but it can and does attract some wannabe weirdos. I tried to get on a course at our local college that looked at the psychology behind criminality to go with a standard psychology course I was doing but it was always oversubscribed thanks to murder groupies and 'edgy' teens who'd take up a spot and then drop out after a term when it wasn't as glam and gory as they'd hoped it would be.  My guess is that this guy is at the extreme, extreme end of those types.

^^ I agree there's probably no "motive" per se, meaning he most likely had no personal connection to any of them. He might have watched them, stalked them, but didn't know them. Bundy never killed anyone he knew either, and it was more wrong place wrong time for the victims. I also agree that given what he was studying, he had some weird fascinations or maybe was trying to gain some insight into his own murderous urges. It will be interesting to learn more about this guy.
