I believe the plane incident happened as described but I also think there's a lot of manipulation going on both sides. And that letter to me is a prime example and I think she wrote it very carefully knowing full well it would one day prove useful if published. It's a fucking vineyard and winery, how is it not supposed to be related to alcohol, ffs? At the same time, Brad should just have just bought out her shares and not been a dick about including a NDA.

no1novice - Thank you for sharing the email and 'bradvert'! I'm struggling to figure out why an alcohol-dependent person, who also acknowledged that he was attending AA meetings, would even consider taking part in the advertising of alcohol! It makes me suspect that when he attends/attended meetings, he lies/lied through his face to the other attendees! AA meetings, as we know, are where painful, personal conversations take place with an emphasis on trust and honesty. It makes me wonder if he bothered to go through the 12 Steps process! By the way, Angie's email sounded very sad and distressing. She obviously 'gets' it and reacted in the right way- and I've never been one to believe in the whole 'Saint Angie' movement!

it's possible that angie had this letter in her 'back pocket' - something to whip out later if it was needed. she is very tactical - not a judgment, just fact.
yeah it's a vineyard but i could see how that ad would be jarring to his family if he was drunk and slugging on the plane. a throwback to the 'sensitivity chip' aniston mentioned. parallel to the pics angie and brad did after he and aniston separated.
people repeat the past. all/most of us.

The Madonna/Sean thing, I remember a story that he tied her to a chair and beat her. And yes, she denies it all now. If you google, there are some postings about it, but nothing from the time period it allegedly happened (1988-1989). I guess she called the police who came to the house and she filed a complaint against him which she later withdrew. But as far as I know, there are no records to confirm it.

Well it's anaymous for a reason + his sponsor is one of the RHCP - Flea I think? IMHO the French wine "culture" is very different to UK "drinking" culture and also what I experienced in the US. Viniculture is a business, and needs experience and skills and talent that it takes a life time to acquire. I think that the Jolie-Pitts were just the finance + the Perrin's used their name to help sell their (joint) brand. Also Pitt is doing other stuff (that really horrible sculpture? Scuba diving, etc) that suggests to me that he is using his time for other things - like La Lohan needed to do back in the day. It's also easy to have court ordered monitoring if needed & there has been no mention of this failing & I think we would have heard that? Ugh! I can't believe that I just wrote all of that defending Vanilla Pitt's AA journey. The photo from the adnis from a GQ shoot in 2019 www.gq.com/story/brad-pitt-cover-profile-october-2019And yes, "tactical" great work CZB!

I do think Angelina is tactical, but I don't know that she could have forseen that the letter might one day be published because Brad sued her over the sale of the vineyard. It seemed sincere to me. We knew he was an alcoholic anyway, and it broke up the family. Brad didn't need to star in the ads himself, he has plenty of famous friends.

^^^ she might not have known what it would have been useful for exactly but i still think it was written with ammunition in mind. you don't write your soon-to-be-ex a letter, in the middle of an acrimonious divorce, without weighing every single word in case it's a) used against you or b) something you can use against them.
the whole thing about wanting the place (again, a vineyard, where wine is made) to be for hosting human rights meetings is disingenuous as fuck (and a great way to lose money) and seems more like a tactic to get him to either sell the whole thing or buy out her shares, using the 'you're an alcoholic' argument to get him to do it. again, like czb said, it's tactical, and i don't hold that against her because you do everything you have to do in a divorce to get what you think you're entitled to, and she is going to milk that plane incident for all it's worth. but it also makes me all the more convinced the plane incident was a one time thing otherwise she would have other examples instead of using this one again and again. which doesn't mean it wasn't awful but it also explains why he was given unsupervised visitation again and not deemed a threat to his kids.

Regardless of what her motives were. Why wouldn't Brad just buy her out and be done with it? Perhaps holding this hostage was a means of him getting what he wanted as well? Could be that he's just that entitled and put out about all this.
Personally I think he's beyond pissed at her zero tolerance reaction to the plane incident and resents having to be accountable for his behavior. Even more so if it was a one time thing, which I personally don't buy.
I think if he'd had it his way this would have been swept under the rug entirely and they'd still be an intact (at least on the surface) family.
Obviously these two are well matched when it comes to being tactical and shoring up ammo for future use. She's just the one who takes all the heat for it in the press because she's a woman (and a weirdo, brother-lover, home-wrecker, crazy bitch etc) and he's the teflon golden boy.

maybe he wouldn't buy her out because she wouldn't sign the NDA? or something else. it doesn't make sense because there are missing pieces.
as for the letter she wrote, i wouldn't be surprised if it weren't first vetted by her attorneys. i doubt that she would have any communication in such a $$$ divorce unless it were first approved.

From documents:-
Pitt alleged in his February lawsuit that since the sale, his company and Shefler’s have been unable to agree on the management and strategic direction of the company that runs Chateau Miraval. He also complained that he could no longer enjoy his private residence as it was now co-owned by strangers.
The new document notes that “Jolie did offer to sell her interest in Chateau Miraval to Pitt, but in exchange for his purchase, Pitt demanded she sign a nondisclosure agreement that would have contractually prohibited her from speaking outside of court about Pitt’s physical and emotional abuse of her and their children. Jolie refused to agree to such a provision, and Pitt walked away from the deal.”

Bottom line: He had a chance to buy her out. All things considered, it was pretty generous of her to give him first dibs. He didn't take it. Obviously the Chateau was not that important to him.
Or at least nowhere near as important as getting her to sign an NDA. Which makes me think there's probably more to know than the plane incident.
Seeing as how she was able to sell regardless, it was stupid of him to try and use this as a bargaining tool and not just buy her out. He could easily have afforded it. Maybe he didn't think she would actually do it.
I think he's still pissed and a bit incredulous that she ended it all after the plane incident. If he was truly sorry about the plane incident and cared about trying to make amends and keep things amicable for the sake of their family, he would have bit the bullet and bought her out.
Whining now about strangers owning it (if it's even true that he's complaining) just makes him look like a dumbass.

What I don't understand about the disparagement NDA - Jolie could only sign on her behalf. The kids would still be free to speak about what they saw, which would probably be considered more credible than anything Jolie would say. Moreover, the NDA apparently covers disparagement outside the courtroom. It seems incredibly unlikely Jolie, who appears to have a very controlled demeanor in interviews, would actually comment publicly on her and Pitt's relationship and its dissolution. So, to me, it sounds like the NDA is a reference to the fact that courtroom details were being leaked and that Pitt's lawyers were able to trace the leaks to the source.

Typical narcissist. He was using the vineyard as a way to continue to control her since the courts wouldn't let him use the kids to do so. Now he has no access to her and that's what the continuous lawsuits about Miraval are about.
