Jamie has a long history of being abusive and controlling. Most recently he even had the cops called on him for getting violent with his then 13 year old grandson.
Just because lynne wasn’t willing to step up doesn’t make him anything resembling a responsible parent. Being paid to control every aspect of his millionaire daughter’s life sounds like the type of shit that would be right up his alley.
Britney needs help and care, it’s obvious. Her family - all of them - are the worst candidates on earth for that job.
This is where I will differ in opinion- Jamie clearly has his own traumas and addiction issues. Many adults from traumatic, chaotic upbringings often struggle with coercive control and abusing behaviors in their own relationships.
I’m not excusing or minimizing the dysfunction and perpetuation of abusive cycles because that’s what the Spear clan is clearly entrenched in, a horrible cycle. But and this is my big but- if your mom is unwilling to step up to the plate and your dad is in recovery and hopefully working thru his issues and can be an effective candidate to oversee care as part of a team, I’m all for it.
For me, what went sideways is the team itself. There was far more self interest at play for the “professionals” than should have been allowed by the courts years ago. And I think that self interest and lacking oversight is where some of Jamie’s less than ideal to say it kindly, issues were given their head.
And another but- dealing with someone with severe mental illness is exhausting. Especially those resistant to the diagnosis and treatment protocol. Brit is in clear denial of her issues and the severity based on what we do know from her behavior since the conservatorship was ended.
I frankly believe little of her side from her book. She’s a poor narrator due to her unwillingness to not shield herself with the “victim” armor. Again,
I do agree shitty things were done but how morally sjitty they may be is a different, for me, in the possible context of her illness and her capacity.
