Started to watch Mike Myers' limited series; 'The Pentaverate'. Couldn't get through more than 30 minutes of the first episode. Sorry, but the template worked 25 years ago, now, not so much. Going to watch Rob Zombie's 'The Munsters' but based on the trailers, I expect to report back here soon. lol Bloke was watching The Pentaverate. I made it through an episode and a half and wandered away. I don't think he finished it either.

I made it through half an episode of Rob Zombie's "The Munsters," and have regretted that time waste since. Horrible.

Tried to watch “A quiet Passion” about Emily Dickinson. Slow, tedious, boring, gave up after 30 mins.

^^^I had that Emily Dickinson movie filed in my brain to watch sometime. It's too bad they didn't do her justice. Instead of trying to select every post, this is directed to charmedhour faithanne kittylady et al re: other historical figures in (British/European) history. I 100% agree...I have been craving something about Katherine Swynford or Eleanor of Aquitaine or Isabella of France. I saw a documentary (which someone here may have recommended) that depicts Isabella overlooking the execution of Hugh le Despenser simply eating a plum as it's taking place and you know it's a memorable scene if you remember it from something that isn't even a theatrical release. There is just so much to mine from other stories... I do have another bad movie to heap on the pile which would be The Snowman starring a whole host of talent like Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, Val Kilmer (my GOD), Charlotte Gainsbourg, JK Simmons, Chloe Sevigny, Toby Jones, etc. It came out in 2017 and I had zero heads up on what I was about to watch besides not getting rated very highly. I figured, how bad could it be? It's Nordic Noir, it's probably just slow and gloomy and that's why people don't like it. I mean, I think I loved it...it was fucking hysterically bad. Please tell me someone else has seen this mess.

^^ I tried to watch the snowman, had completely forgotten about it. I think we managed to watch about 30 mins and hubby finally looked at me and said he couldn’t take anymore of it. I was so glad to hear that.

No, I don’t recall a concert, so must have escaped before that. The last scene I remember was when he came home and some random guy was fixing stuff in his apartment and there was a cute puppy. I still want to know whose puppy that was cause Fassbender acted like he’d never seen him before. Whoever produced the trailer is a genius, they actually made this crap look like a really good movie.

I know what you're talking about...the concert happened after that...it's hard to explain if you don't see it because you have to have the entire unintentional goofiness of the movie weighing on you to understand how weird it is and I think if I even posted the clip no one would understand just how dumb it is. (Also, I might have only found it funny because my brain just had enough at that point and was about to walk out without me.) But yeah, the trailer looked fine...I mean the premise of menacing snowmen was something, too.
What happened with Val Kilmer in this movie is just frightening. He was doing some kind of treatment for his throat cancer, so they just dubbed his lines and it is sooo obvious and just really sad to watch.

I really wanted The Snowman to be good because I like the actors in it, and I liked the book. I've read the first 8 books in the series (The Snowman is the 7th book), and I like the character and the stories, but the movie was awful.

It’s nice they gave him a part, but still. I am almost tempted to watch it again to see the concert, but only almost. albatross, I am glad the books are good. I was considering reading them, but the movie put me right off. Will have to reconsider.

I'm with you, I thought it was boring AF, not my cup of tea.

Inside Man on Netflix is a flaming pile of shit. Great cast, interesting idea, good production values, competent direction. Phenomenally wretched script that is a whole wide world of what the fuck unto itself.

There was a scene with an execution- the Queen is completely stoic while the kind looks away in horror. I want to lean more towards Margaret of Anjou.

waterslide charmedhour You'd both probably enjoy The She Wolves of England (book and tv series) by Dr Helen Castor and any of the documentaries by Lucy Worsley.
