An old clip of Debbie Reynolds has resurfaced in which she talks about how she nearly had to die in order to have her pregnancy ended after the much-wanted baby died in utero at 7 months gestation. Of course the forced birth fuckers were all over it in the comments section saying it had nothing to do with Roe V Wade being overturned and that it isn't an abortion if the baby was already dead and that kind of thing would never happen now...

There was an article yesterday that mentioned how in a certain state, women cannot finalize their divorces while they are pregnant. And the reason is that the fetus is not considered a child until it is born live. At that point, the parents can then start proceedings over custody, child support, etc.

Texas Medical Association says hospitals are refusing to treat women with pregnancy complications

The non-profit organization wrote that it has received complaints alleging hospital administrators have sided against providing care to women with ectopic pregnancies for fear of running afoul of state laws.

The Texas Medical Association (TMA) is raising the alarm on what they believe to be a growing number of cases in the state in which healthcare professionals are siding against providing care for women with severe pregnancy complications for fear of violating the state's abortion ban.

According to The Dallas Morning News' Allie Morris, a letter sent by members of the non-profit organization Wednesday to the Texas Medical Board claimed the association has received complaints regarding hospital administrators disallowing medical care providers from offering critical services to patients with ectopic pregnancies and other child birth complications.

The letter appeals to the board to "swiftly act to prevent any wrongful intrusion into the practice of medicine." The TMA's memo comes as healthcare providers contend with a shifting legal landscape in the aftermath of the Supreme Court's opinion overturning Roe v. Wade and the return of laws governing abortion legality to the states. Texas has a trigger law on the books that will outlaw abortion almost universally beginning 30 days after the Supreme Court issues its official judgement formally overturning Roe—which has not occurred yet.



In the meantime, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed legal actions seeking the enforcement of near-century-old state anti-abortion laws that criminalize the act of receiving or providing an abortion. Paxton's efforts have resulted in the removal of a temporary restraining order blocking state prosecutors from charging abortion recipients during the 30-day enforcement limitation period set forth under Texas' abortion trigger law. The Texas Supreme Court last Friday ruled against the block, opening up abortion providers to civil suits but not criminal charges in the interim.

Not to derail the thread, but I read that doctors are receiving more than the average amount of vasectomy calls.

I'd like to see a push in advertising for more condom usage.  When AIDS began to reach the straight community there was a huge increase in condom usage.  Everyone I knew had condoms in their wallet, handbag and bathroom. It was a death sentence then, so the "I hate the way the condom feels" went by the wayside for quite awhile.  Then if people were in a committed relationship they'd get tested and keep using the condoms or go onto something else.  

Can I ask a general question? Not personal info about your own children. Look at the condom usage on the list below.  Is this generation using them? Are people teaching their son's that it's their responsibility too? I've never asked my friend's about what their kids used.  

Just did some reading. It looks like for teen girls the IUD is often recommended first. Then hormone injections and the pill.

With higher education, female sterilization declined and use of the pill increased.

The GOP have blocked a bill that would offer protection to women who cross state lines to access an abortion and now there's anecdotal claims emerging of women drivers being stopped by police as they approach red state borders, usually for something like supposedly being slightly over the speed limit, and repeatedly questioned about the reason for their journey. As I said, this is anecdotal right now but with the Forced Birthers and Right Wingers becoming ever more emboldened these rumours could very soon become a reality. How long is it until we hear of a woman being forced to take a pregnancy test by the side of the road before being allowed to continue (or not) her journey out of state? Or having to present a certificate from her doctor stating that she isn't pregnant before being allowed to fly? An Australian woman has already reported that she was repeatedly questioned about whether she was pregnant or had recently had an abortion by immigration officers at the border while trying to travel to Canada.

This is just the start. It's only going to get worse.

Unattractive women who “look like a thumb” shouldn’t complain about losing abortion rights because they’re the “least” likely to get pregnant, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) said in a jaw-dropping speech to college students at a conservative conference in Florida on Saturday.
“Have you watched these pro-abortion, pro-murder rallies?” Gaetz asked the crowd at the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit in Tampa. “The people are just disgusting. Why is it that the women with the least likelihood of getting pregnant are the ones most worried about having abortions?”

Video of the speech has received at least one million views on Twitter.
“Nobody wants to impregnate you if you look like a thumb. These people are odious from the inside out,” the congressman continued. “They’re like 5′2″, 350 pounds, and they’re like, ‘Give me my abortions or I’ll get up and march and protest.’”
“A few of them need to get up and march — they need to get up and march for like an hour a day. Swing those arms, get the blood pumpin’, maybe mix in a salad.”

Critics were stunned.
Jezebel ripped the comments as “cartoonishly misogynist.”
Texas Democratic state Rep. Erin Zwiener was one of many to lambast the congressman on Twitter: “Gaetz, we don’t care if you think we’re hot. Either way, we deserve to make our own decisions about our futures.”

Gaetz’s remarks were made at the same summit where Sen. Ted Cruz, just a day earlier, took a crude jab at gender pronouns.
Gaetz is currently under federal investigation for alleged sex trafficking and statutory rape of a 17-year-old girl.

How funny! Me too.  There were about six of us that day going to PP.  Three of us were active. We went to the lecture, were handed a roll of condoms and some of us got diaphragms, though I can't really remember why.  I think it had to do with the many choices that we were told about in health class and it seemed to be pretty easy.  I had no interest in the pill or an IUD (they were horrible back then).  Then we went to see Grease on Broadway, then dinner.  A good day was had by all.
