The draft opinion is a full-throated, unflinching repudiation of the 1973 decision which guaranteed federal constitutional protections of abortion rights and a subsequent 1992 decision – Planned Parenthood v. Casey – that largely maintained the right. “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start,” Alito writes. “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” he writes in the document, labeled as the “Opinion of the Court.” “It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”

I read this late last night and somehow my mind simply couldn't even grasp what was written ... the impact of the words were simply more than I could digest. This morning I read it all again and is still seems unreal. In some way, I don't even quite know how to face my day at work and going through the motions of the day to day with the knowledge this is happening.

^^^ Don't do that. MAGA types thrive on that kind of reaction. The main thing is to keep a clear head, and vote.
Bernie Sanders said that we need national legislation that protect the right to an abortion, but it could just as easily go the other way. If Roe is overturned, I strongly suspect that Republican presidential candidates will include in their 2024 platform a promise to pass a nation-wide right-to-life law.

What's crazy is that 70% of the country does not want Roe overturned, that's a clear majority. We are held hostage by the religious right in a country where there is supposed to be separation of church and state. I was so angry last night.
edit: to the person who leaked the draft you have my respect. They killed their career by doing the right and moral thing.

I was so angry last night. edit: to the person who leaked the draft you have my respect. They killed their career by doing the right and moral thing. Some people speculate that a lot of this is a race against US demographics that are trending away from MAGA views. So, they are focused on locking up courts and rulings. I guess that's possible. I'm also kind of puzzled about the GOP outrage that this was leaked. Does the information coming out two months early hurt their long-term strategy? I can't figure out how.

Exactly, it hurts the mid-terms and the primaries that are happening right now. Which, I believe is why got leaked now rather than waiting for few months for the decision.
The thing is, where do they stop? Do they roll back access to contraceptives - because those stop a viable egg from implanting. Women will still get abortions, they will be more dangerous and more people will die. Rich, white, republicans will fly their daughters (and mistresses) to states where it is legal. Meanwhile poor women will be forced to have a backroom abortion, or carry to term a baby they don't want and can't afford. It's messed up on so many levels.

Rich people would not necessarily get a pass on this because there is already legislation in consideration in Oklahoma that would somehow enable a lawsuit against someone if the patient was impregnated in Oklahoma. I think this is being done now because almost half of all abortions now are being done through medication, and it would make closing a clinic moot in most cases. In other words, I think the focus now will be on trying to regulate abortion in other states even before an attempt at a nation-wide law. Also, I guess I can see how it would hurt in the primaries because it could hurt the more MAGA candidate. If they are seen as winning the primary, but losing the general election over the Roe v Wade overturning, Republican primary voters - and funders - would shy away from the MAGA candidate. Especially in battleground states.
