I'm seem to be in the minority, but I'm 'Team Depp'. I work from home so I've had the trial on everyday. I'm not saying he is a saint, but I think Amber is very manipulative based on the recordings they've played in court. I definitely think her oped piece was the reason he lost the roles in Pirates, Fantastic Beasts & Harry Potter. I think this trial is more about principle than money. JMO

I agree this is more about principle and Depp's desire to "clear his name". I was wondering why this was being televised and read that Depp wanted it, he wants the world to see it. She didn't. Re how they're coming across, this testimony is Depp presenting his case, so of course he's doing what he can to make her look bad, I'm sure when her side has their turn, she'll do the same with him. 

What strikes me so far is the massive amounts of drugs and alcohol he was doing, at one point in withdrawals. I don't know how anyone that intoxicated all the time could have a clear memory of everything that happened.

Jurors were shown a photo of a table laden with cocaine and alcohol that was taken in March 2013, when Johnny Depp acknowledged he had “fallen off the wagon.”

Asked if he would often drink whiskey in the morning, Depp elicited laughter from the gallery when he replied: “Isn’t happy hour anytime?”

Asked about a small metal box with the words “Property of J.D.” that was also on the table, Depp denied that he used to carry cocaine around in it.
“But it looks like it would fit,” Depp said.

The defense attorney noted that evidence from Depp’s previous UK trial showed the actor had said that was what the box was used for.

Johnny Depp sent a message to his actor friend Paul Bettany allegedly admitting to consuming “powders, half a bottle of whiskey, a thousand red bull” before boarding a 2014 flight from Boston to Los Angeles with Amber Heard.

In the text exchange shown to jurors, Depp said he was going to “properly stop the booz thing, darling” as he referenced a fight he’d gotten into with Heard on the plane.

“Drank all night before I picked Amber up to fly to LA this past Sunday … Ugly, mate … No food for days … Powders … Half a bottle of Whiskey, a thousand red bull and vodkas, pills, 2 bottles of Champers on plane,” Depp wrote in the text.

Depp added: “I’m done. I am admittedly too f–ked in the head to spray my rage at the one I love… I’m too old to be that guy. But, pills are fine!!!

When asked about the mid-flight fight with Heard, Depp confirmed that he believed his then-partner was having an affair with James Franco.

After the flight, Depp allegedly sent Heard a text saying: “Once again, I find myself in a place of shame and regret. Of course, I am sorry. I really don’t know why, or what happened. But I will never do it again. I want to get better for you. And for me. I must. My illness somehow crept up and grabbed me.”

Talking about him losing the plot, drug and alcohol abuse wouldn't help that either. I forgot how cute he was in 21 Jump Street, seems and looks like a totally different person.

Does Depp really think these pics of how he destroyed her closet etc are helping his case?? They also showed a recording of him ranting in the kitchen and as he admitted, destroying "a few cabinets". Amber can be heard in the recording talking very calmly, trying to calm him down I assume, as he rages and throws things around. Sorry, but verbal (and in this case, written, some of it in his own blood) abuse, destroying her property IS domestic violence. It's all part of the cycle of violence. Even if he never laid a hand on her (which I don't believe) those are still abusive behaviors.

I was out this afternoon so didn't catch most of his cross by Amber's lawyer but the Courtv talking heads seem to be changing their tunes somewhat and agreeing Johnny didn't come off so well.

Thanks for sharing this chart, Trixie. Someday I hope to be able to read stuff like this without getting physically ill, but people out there in abusive relationships need to see things like this to give them understanding and hope. In my personal situation, it was directly linked to the drink and/or drugs. Without them, he was great - a completely different person. Once again, I'm so glad they did not have children together.

This might have come up and I missed it, but did Depp talk about where he is now with drinking and drugs?

^ I recently sent that to someone I know who is coming out of a bad relationship, and some of the things she described to me fit. Maybe not everything, but it's still helpful to see that this isn't something isolated or unique, this is how these abusers operate.

I agree that drinking/drugs may very well exacerbate these behaviors, maybe he's a great guy sober, but it doesn't change what happened. I don't think anyone would disagree that this relationship was totally toxic.

Actor Johnny Depp called his former partner and mother of his children Vanessa Paradis a 'French extortionist c***' in an email to British singer Elton John, Amber Heard's legal team revealed in court on Thursday.

Depp and his ex-wife Heard are currently facing off in a bitter $50million defamation lawsuit in Virginia, with the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star accusing her of making false accusations of abuse that resulted in him being blacklisted by Hollywood. Heard denies fabricating the accusations, and is counter-suing Depp for $100million.

The second week in court on Thursday concluded with members of the jury being shown video and audio of Depp's 'violent episodes'. Heard's legal team are working to portray Depp as an out-of-control alcoholic and drug addict, while he is claiming that his ex-wife was the aggressor during their heated arguments.

During Depp's testimony, he told the court that she would bully him, call him names, threaten to harm herself if he left her, and used hard drugs throughout their marriage.

In one instance, 58-year-old Depp recalled how 'Aquaman' actress Heard, 36, told him that his two children - Lily-Rose Depp, 22 and son John Christopher 'Jack' Depp III, 20 - disliked him and that he was a 'bad father'. 

Depp claimed that the truth was that his children did not like Heard.

But to counter this claim, Heard's team shared an email that Depp wrote in 2013 to Elton John via email, in which he complained about French model and actress Ms Paradis, now 49 - whom he was with for about 14 years from 1998 to 2012. 

In the email, Depp confided in Sir Elton about his mother's recovery from a health issue, before going on to tell the singer that his children had 'fallen head over heels' for Heard, and that his ex was trying to 'brainwash' his children against him.

'On the other side of the coin… my kids have fallen head over heels in deep love with Amber (my girl) and that pressure off my shoulders is f***ing gone!!!,' he told Sir Elton. 'That is unlike the 'French extortionist (ex c***) attempts to brain wash them against her… which, I'm sure is imminent.'

Agreed. I think they were abusive to each other. There is plenty of blame to go around, that’s for sure. Neither is innocent in all of this.

This is constantly popping up on HLN and the news, and Mrs Mo asked me what I thought about it - like, who is at fault. I said I do not have the extra brain power to spare to sort this out.
