Currently, “Close to Me,” because I stumbled across the series on Prime Video and it moves so horribly slow. The book does, too. It is in that same vein that is just — tiresome. The new Elin Hilderbrand was good. Look forward to cracking open Stephen King’s “Billy Summers.”

Should this be moved to entertainment?

i just finished 'premier sang' ('first blood') by amélie nothomb, one of my favourite writers, and it's gorgeous. it's basically a semi-fictional biography of her father, who died in 2020 and was from a very quirky and eccentric aristocratic family and was a belgian diplomat who almost died in a hostage crisis in the congo in the 1960s. it's amazing, so well written, funny, touching, elegant, insightful and with her trademark style. and you can't put it down.
right now just starting ottessa moshfegh's 'death in her hands' and so far it's great. i've been meaning to read her for a few years.

good. i need a new book. i'm trying to prioritize reading and most stuff i've read is mediocre so won't list it here. the one exception: the personal librarian. historical fiction about the african american librarian hired by jp morgan.

I'm reading Mexican Gothic. It's an OK read, but it's moving slowly and taking me a bit of time to finish. It's holding my interest enough that I want to finish it.

I'm reading Think Like a Monk by Jay Sheety. It's a nice read but it's hard to think like a monk.
I finished Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware before this, which I liked but not as much as One by One.
I'm a big reader of Desperate Housewife-like mysteries.

I'm studying for the LSAT (law school entrance exam) so I unfortunately don't have much time for anything fun right now. I hope to one day be able to enjoy life again but if I actually get into law school, my life will be on hold for 4 years.

I mostly read pyschological mystery-thrillers. They are an escape for me. Nothing intellectually stimulating at all. They all have these super cheesy titles. My assistant principal came around last week and took photos of us for these little posters that show teachers read too The posters have our smiling faces on them and then you post a photo of the current book you're reading. The titles and covers of the books I've been reading scream trash... Little Girls Sleeping, Killing Jane, Night Terror, Living Victim... so I lied. I took a photo of a book I read a few years ago, In the Deep Dark Wood (or something like that). Wondering if any of my colleagues are lying too...

I've just started reading 1948 by James Herbert after Ma Kitty loaned it to me. It's set in post-WWII London and there's been some kind of blood plague that's wiping out everyone but people with the AB blood group, and those survivors are being hunted by the infected in the hopes of curing themselves via total blood transfusions. I'm only a couple of chapters in so far and it's ok, although my mum says it picks up and becomes unputdownable as it goes on.
My mum loooooooves anything that has deadly plagues/diseases escaping from experimental labs or critters growing to enormous sizes and eating people so I can see why this was right up her street.

I'm looking for new authors/series if you have suggestions since they can be hit or miss.
I finished up The Midnight Library by Matt Haig.

Look forward to cracking open Stephen King’s “Billy Summers.” I'm a huge SK fan, but did not finish Billy Summers. It might be the narrator.

Geographical area you'd like? We're rooting for you!
