There are definitely plenty of famous people I view differently after finding out they are/were really horrible people.
On one hand, I kind of miss the days when we could just stay blissfully ignorant and enjoy their work.
But on the other hand... Why should these people be held to another standard just because they're rich and famous or talented? There's certainly no way any of us could get away with being that kind of horrible.
And not all of them are problematic. Which shows you can still be talented and rich and famous and be a somewhat good person. And why shouldn't you want to at least try?

Oh dear. I had no idea Zappa was a shit, always thought he was very cool. I was the same- thought he was the coolest man on the planet! He was either on tour or practising/rehearsing in the basement- totally disconnected from his kids, leaving them completely at the mercy of their dysfunctional mother. She is such a natural, warm and inspirational writer that she draws you in and keeps you there as she makes her way towards the light at the end of her very dark tunnel! I couldn't put the book down! Earth To Moon by Moon Zappa. i mean, even without being famous, or rich, most men of that generation weren't involved parents at all and it was just considered normal that women raised kids. personally, i separate the art from the artist quite easily, because otherwise there wouldn't be a lot of art or music or literature to enjoy. but that's me. and while it's nice when both the art and the artist are good, and it's always a bit disappointing when you find out someone whose art you love is a shit human being, it's not something i expect or demand.
