My grandma used to cook tripes and liver and all sort of organs (if you couldn’t tell, that’s a clue to guess that my family was poor XD) and every time someone tells me that ‘vegans miss out so much’ I’m like, well, some things should be missed XD It also just smelled terrible, I can’t fathom how that idiot manages to eat that raw. My grandmother and mother also cooked tripe in soup. And we had other weird stuff too that I'd never eat now but didn't know any better as a kid. Ox tails, pig's knuckles.......

Two stories: I once ate in a british restaurant in Spain (don't ask) and my english was really not good back then. The waiter said something about beans and I went with it. Smelled strange, but I was in conversation as I cut down a piece of meat and put it into my mouth. While I ate and tried to figure out why the texture was so strange and why the taste was so nasty, I looked down and saw the other half of a heart, aorta still attached. I spit it out and had to get out and sit somewhere to not pass out. The waiter followed me outside, he was really nice about it, I got some beans in tomato sauce later. I payed for the orginal meal, though, wasn't anyone's fault but mine.
When I worked in a senior home, I had to feed an old lady who didn't speak. She got her food minced because she wouldn't really open her mouth, you had to open her mouth with a finger, fill the mass into her mouth, close it, then she'd swallow. I did exactly that. After 2 bites, a single tear appeared, rolled down her cheek. That shocked me, so I smelled on the food. It was sour kidneys. If you ground these, they are like pure ammonia. I took the plate an ran to the chef nurse, who was generally really really intimidating. She was so angry that she went to the kitchen and forced the cook to eat that meal. From the rumour mill we heard that the cook had vomited onto the kitchen floor. Also, I'd been the only person in the whole house who'd even checked what we were feeding the old folks. Half an hour later, the chef nurse came by with a big bowl of vanilla pudding with fresh strawberries for the old lady. She apologized to her, which was unheard of and the old lady smiled and for once opened her mouth to eat. There was a rumour that that made the nurse and me cry a little, but who knows.

Oh god Lofty, thankfully you were there for the old lady! Stories like that make me so sad.

She and Spencer are expecting their second child in December, which they revealed earlier this year will be a baby boy. Following the gender reveal, Heidi admitted that she initially thought she was having a girl and the blue cake at her gender reveal surprised her. 'My whole intuition was off,' she admitted while chatting with Entertainment Tonight.

loftybike that story about the old woman is heartbreaking. My Dad loved liver and onions so my Mom made it once when I was a kid and it was one of the few times she flat out lied to me about what something on my plate was. I thought it looked funny in the package and I ate one bite of it and threw it up on my plate, so that was that. My Dad had liver and onions in restaurants after that. But I like schmaltz and pâté and fried chicken liver if it's some place that knows what it's doing. I don't mind menudo which I'm pretty sure is the only way I've ever eaten tripe. Anyway, at some point during the pandemic, I fell down a youtube rabbit hole and found some raw diet people who were just ridiculous. A couple of them were former vegans and their goal in life was to teach people the "dangers" of being vegan, but instead of just being sane about it and becoming vegetarian or introducing fish and eggs into their diet, they chow down on raw liver. It makes perfect sense. And not surprisingly, a lot of them were pandemic deniers. She has a great pregnancy body. I probably missed it, but what do they do for a living?

I love liver and onion gravy (with the onions pureed or picked out). I ate it growing up and I've had it a few times as an adult, but eating organs is perfectly normal for black people. I love chicken gizzards.

I love chicken gizzards. Perfectly normal for my family too my aunt's favourite dish was "lites" poached in milk. I was a vegetarian for years much to the horror of them.

If he wants 'em he can go out and pay for 'em at a restaurant because I'm not dealing something that belongs in pet food. The same goes for fish. Not touching it, not cooking it.

Liver is a speciality here as well, you'll find it in any traditional restaurant; so is veal kidney. And depending on the area so is tongue (beef or pig), pig tail & ears, and of course black pudding. I can't eat it, I tried beef tongue recently as I got it in a "too good to go" bag, but I ended up cooking it for my dog.

I have a cousin that is an funeral director. She told me raw chicken feels like the innards of a dead body. I basically grow a 3rd arm anytime I need to cook raw chicken now.

I remember my mother coming home with a tongue in a brown paper bag when I was little + I opened the bag + was all "ooh what's that?" She used to make pressed tongue + we had it cold. Both my cat + dog used to love tongue if I got it from the deli - only time I had to fight them off my food. Hope your dog liked it!

I remember my mum bringing home some brawn once. I almost tried it but then found out what it was and backed away sharpish.

I eat all that stuff too if it’s well made. Love liver and gizzards and even veal brain which I used to have at my grandma’s and it was amazing. Basically everything except kidneys which just have a weird consistency and I only like tongue in tacos. My mom used to make it in a tomatoey sauce when we were little and It was basically the only thing I wouldn’t eat.
