Maksim Chmerkovskiy calls out Kirstie Alley over deleted tweet about war Maksim Chmerkovskiy — who’s been posting live updates from Ukraine — called out Kirstie Alley for tweeting she doesn’t know what’s “real” and “fake” about Russia invading his home country. “I don’t know what’s real or what is fake in this war. So I won’t be commenting. I’ll pray instead,” Alley wrote in a since-deleted tweet. Chmerkovskiy then posted a screenshot of the tweet, writing, “Dear Kirstie, We haven’t spoken in a while, but I clearly remember being right next to you while you were organizing trucks of aid during hurricane Sandy and I remember all that you were saying to me about situations where innocent are suffering. “That same energy is needed right now.” He added, “No one needs your prayer if you don’t know what’s real or fake.”  The “Dancing With the Stars” alum has been in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, as Russia’s attacks on the country continue. “I’m safe,” he assured fans on Friday. “We haven’t been told to move, and I’m just following instructions. That’s all I can say.” He also said that citizens are “being mobilized” and “the whole country is being called to go to war.” It’s unclear if he was including himself in that, but it’s unlikely as he became a US citizen in 2019. The pro dancer’s wife Peta Murgatroyd — who’s also a “DWTS” alum — pleaded on social media for his safe return “Please pray for my husband Maks. I don’t usually ask these things from my social media network, however today is extremely hard and the next few will be even harder,” she wrote on Friday. Meanwhile, Alley took down the tweet and posted instead, “I’m sorry that I’m not an expert on APPARENTLY EVERYTHING.. like some of you jack wagons. It’s ok to admit you don’t know things. 🙄🙄🙄” She added, “Omg people are obsessed with hatred.. they wait to pounce like rabid dogs no matter what is said. They will TWIST any words to fit their hateful agendas.. Kirstie needs to go away. I'm shocked she has 1.5 million followers. From what I understand, you can buy twitter followers so that doesn't mean much really. She seems to block anyone who makes negative comments. Surely she knew Maks was from the Ukraine since he was her partner on DWTS. I knew that, and haven't watched in years. I didn't know he was actually there right now, and hope he can find a way out. From what I've heard, that may not be easy. The former “Dancing With the Stars” pro informed fans on his Instagram Story Monday that he “made it on the train” out of Ukraine and arrived in Poland amid the Russians’ invasion of Kyiv. “We’re heading to Warsaw (hopefully). Train to Lviv was not an option. The situation at the train station is insane,” he wrote. “AT first it feels manageable, but it gets A LOT worse when it comes time to actually board the train.” While keeping details vague, Chmerkovskiy said the situation was “TRAUMATIZING” as he remained in a train cabin with “4 adults and 7 kids (ages 2-11) which usually is only occupied by maximum of 3 people.” The famed dancer said his wagon was meant to fit up to 30 people but instead crammed in 135.“It’s sweaty and claustrophobic,” he wrote. In a follow-up video, 42-year-old Chmerkovskiy said they had to disembark 30 minutes from the Polish border so the train could have its wheels changed. “Can’t make this up,” he quipped.
