My big brother has a much smaller but still substantial snowplow (actually, it's a tractor with a heavy-duty plow attached) and every winter he gets out there and plows not only his very long driveway but usually, mine and any elderly people who can't get their drives done themselves anymore. He loves that plow, it's one of his favorite toys, and he loves using the tractor in the warmer months. He's a godsend to many people, especially when the winter is a bit more brutal - like this year - but when I say elderly, it can be a little misleading - he's 74.  |

Monday 6:55 p.m. update: Actor Jeremy Renner got out of a snowplow he has at his home on the side of a snowy mountain to help a stranded car on New Year's Day when he was run over by his own vehicle, according to Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve. A statement from his family released Monday said Renner has blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries and is in the intensive care unit after surgery stemming from the accident near his home on Mt. Rose Highway, 25 minutes from downtown Reno. Schieve told the Reno Gazette Journal on Monday night that she was called when the accident happened on Sunday morning. She said she and the Avengers star are friends. “He was helping someone stranded in the snow,” Schieve said. “He is always helping others.” Schieve said that Renner has helped the community more than most people know over the years. “He’s always calling and saying, ‘Hey Mayor, what do you need?’” She said he has helped donate to multiple charities, most of which he never publicizes. “There are a few times he’ll post about what he has done or donated toys, but most of it you would never know he is doing,” Schieve said. Schieve was thanked by name in the statement released by Renner’s family Monday night. The statement said Renner was in the intensive care unit in critical but stable condition. “Jeremy's family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families,” the statement said. “They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans." I'm glad he was able to post something. I can't even imagine -- seeing that plow -- yikes.
I don't know why, but this has really upset me. Can't say I'm a big Renner fan, but for some reason I'm very sad about this.

Can't say I'm a big Renner fan, but for some reason I'm very sad about this. You know, I kinda feel the same way - so much has come out about what a great, salt-of-the-earth, terrific neighbor and community member he has quietly been for years. We hear and read and see so much of the eye-rolling drama from 'Hollywood people,' and all at once we learn about this hidden gem of a guy. He has a lot of good wishes and heartfelt prayers coming at him and it seems so well-deserved. |

Wasn't he a hair stylist or makeup artist before hitting it big as an actor? Every interview I've seen with him he just genuinely seems to be a nice person.

Maybe he's a better actor than I/we though since I only remember his as being the mysoginistic, closeted gay that threatened his ex-wife + just shrugged when other Marvel actors were giving their pay to the women actors.

What I'm reading on MSN (someone more tech savvy, please post the article) is that a family member was stranded on the side of the road and he stopped to help. The snow plow he was driving, started to roll away and he was trying to get back into the cab when it ran him over.
As a nurse, this sounds like a crushing injury to his leg/legs. The multiple surgeries are hopeful that they can save his leg.

I remember some accusations about him being an asshole to Sonny Pacheco (I think that’s her name). I couldn’t remember any more than that and thought maybe it had been a rumor or had been disproven or denied or whatever. Before that, I thought he was just rumored to be closeted but so was every actor from the early aughts/2010s.
I didn’t know he was a dick over women getting paid.

There were allegations during the divorce and when she was trying to get full custody but nothing apparently ever came of it so it could be true or it could be dirty divorce talk or somewhere in the middle of both. They have 50/50 custody now. |
