Apparently he's known for clearing not just his own property in bad weather but local roads as well. From what I've read he sounds well liked locally and has been active in community resources. I hope he pulls through. I wouldn't be surprised that he does that. The pictures he posted show what would be BEYOND a commercial quality snowplow here. So, basically, it could do residential roads and beyond. Also, one of the stories said he trains with the local fire department to help contribute with that also. The comments sections had numerous stories about people meeting him and him being just a regular, friendly guy.
I've really loved this guy in a lot of different movies - especially "Bourne Legacy". But also "American Hustle", "Mission Impossible", and "Hurt Locker". I hope he doesn't lose a leg from this, but it sounds really bad.

His "snowplow" looks like a truck with add-ons. Which you would need up there I would think. It's very kind of him to help his neighbors out but in these weather conditions, it's a shame he didn't have someone at least riding along to help out in an emergency. Truly hoping for the best for him - I'm sure his neighbors are devastated.

It's now being reported that he also suffered blunt chest trauma along with the leg injuries and underwent surgery today. I truly hope he can recover from this.

I hope this is not as bad as everyone is thinking. He's always struck me as a nice guy in his interviews. And even if he's not, I hope he recovers.

Basically a single function vehicle. I looked up the manufacturer, "Idaho Norland" and that is a DEAD SERIOUS snowplow made for worst-case conditions. A better view of it is below (if the photo comes through):

I don't think that's what he was using. TMZ has a video of his Snowcat being hauled away, and it's not the truck in that photo. It's one that he has a number of photos and videos on Instagram (TMZ also posted some of those). The Snowcat has tracks, not tires. It's still a monster.

The TMZ video shows a red snow plow with treads/tracks instead of wheels, just like you said. Very specialized. I also read that he owns like three different kinds of snow plows. I saw also that he has a chest injury. It almost sounds like a rollover accident where he was squashed -- but I don't see how that thing could possibly roll over because it is so bottom heavy. Plus, the cab of the vehicle should have protected him.

OMG -- absolutely horrible. He was squished. I'm sure he's on a very long, slow road to recovery from those injuries.

I also couldn't see how a rollover would happen in the Snowcat.

The wording "orthopaedic injuries" makes me nervous. It's so completely vague. If he'd broken his leg, they could just say so. Did he lose his leg? It sounds horrible enough without that, elsewhere people are sure that he'll be disabled if he survives. I hope it's less dramatic.

it could also be lots of complex, open fractures that required a ton of reconstructive surgery. but yeah, it sounds fucking awful.

Just wanted to add that at the beginning of "Bourne Legacy", there is this long outdoor sequence where Jeremy Renner is trekking across some mountainous Canadian landscape to get to Oscar Isaac's outpost to get some meds that he needs. Renner is out swimming in an ice lake, fighting off grey wolves, and climbing various mountains and jumping off ridges. I kind of wondered if Renner was out of his element -- and boy, was I wrong about that...

This is a picture from 2019 of the machine he's thought to have been using at the time.
