no1novice brace yourself, because I got up this morning to find it'd snowed overnight. It normally misses us so if we've got it then it might be a fun time ahead for you too. Thanks love. I *had* to go into the office today (a trauma in itself!) and one of my friends from Manchester had crossed the Pennines & it had snowed in Manchester overnight so I think Thursday is our day for it? (Although the Met Office Weather warning says it's moving west...) The Met Office said that we'd only get a sprinkle of sleet...

Yeah I know It was about -2 today, as soon as I put water out for the bird it was freezing quite quickly. My car had lots of pretty patterns on it made by the ice.

We got a bunch of snow and then the deep freeze, so the plowed snow along our driveway is frozen solid. I forgot my glasses this am and had to pull back in our driveway. Didn't steer wide enough and dented my car on one of the "boulders" on the side of the entrance to our driveway. Argh.

It's 12:30am here and we've just hit minus 4. Lovely. Time to throw another layer on the bed.

Our Federal courthouse is closed for the rest of week because they had a water main freeze and burst. That's very weird for Colorado, but I guess the building is really old.

I am frozen right now and it's a balmy 20F/-6.666C (the demonic celsius part feels about right). Tomorrow we may be getting an ice storm which is worse to me than snow or cold.
I went about a third of the way to work on Friday and my car started going down sideways on a highway and then I went home and worked from home. It only snowed a few inches but no towns thought about possibly ploughing or salting.

I was in Nebraska this past weekend and it was a balmy -4 degrees.
Flying out on Tuesday morning was delayed 3 hours because O'Hare said so. They shut down for a bit, grounding all plans.
Missed my connection and was rebooked for a 6:30 pm flight from O'Hare to home. That was then delayed to 7:15. I spent about 7 hours hanging around the airport.
Thankfully O'hare has a ton of shops and restaurants. A glass of wine relaxed me then I went and got myself a 30 minute deep tissue chair massage, followed by a manicure. Early dinner where I chatted with other stranded/delayed passengers and then some window shopping. I love traveling alone.
I almost didn't believe it when they started boarding my plane.
I miss my life at O'Hare.

Global Warming.
Or death hornets have invaded their hive. Your choice.

It sounds like you had a nicer time at the airport than would have been possible if you went on a full vacation in Chicago, though!

We actually had an F1 tornado touch down in my town on Tuesday night. Tornado, in February. 70+ degrees that day, down to 30 the next. Some snow on the ground after the severe weather passed. The kids were running around without coats one day at recess and the next they couldn't go out because the windchill was below zero.
The tornado warning was very odd. We were eating dinner. It was storming, but it seemed that the worst had passed us. Sirens went on. Stopped eating, gathered the pets and went in the basement. Then they stopped. Waited a bit, went back upstairs and started eating again. Sirens start again. Went back down. All is quiet. Not even raining, no thunder, no lightning. No mention on the radio. We did get an alert there was a tornado warning -- but it was 45 minutes long. Usually, the warnings don't last that long. Weather outside seemed fine. We went back upstairs. Sirens go off again. Our pets are thinking we are nuts. The next morning, no signs of a storm in my neighborhood. On the way to work their was definitely a swath where you could see storm debris, downed limbs, some trees uprooted and fences down. Then I found out an apartment building in my town lost part of their roof. So wild that you can have relatively calm weather and on the other side of our not very big town a tornado hit. Not a big one, but still, a tornado.
But no, climate change isn't real and this is all really typical. We're truly destroying our planet.

It's 71 in the Detroit area today, slightly overcast. Door open, fresh air in the house, watching pre-season baseball.
BTW, I go back to work next week. I got hired by Nissan.
