I'm heartbroken for Anne, she clearly is devastated at loss of her mother/Queen. She has dedicated her life to duty, much like the Queen, and most likely for the Queen as her mother.

No damn way are the Bidens flying commercial - it's just not going to happen. This all sounds like a logistical and security nightmare. I'll watch it from home thank you very much. He can fly into a USF base in Norfolk if he is that fucking special or the base where that American woman killed the teenager when she was driving on the wrong side of the road. Even my family, who are not royalist in any part of the imagination are disturbed by QEII's death; as "expected" as it is for a woman of 96. Just to be clear, I wasn't saying Biden shouldn't follow the restrictions, I simply didn't think there was any way it would be allowed by the Secret Service, et.al. Sputnik put it much better (thanks Sput!) and I forgot to include her quote and don't know how to put it in here unless I do the whole thing over so I bolded it instead. (sorry Sput!) You know who's making me even weepier? The epitome of self-control and stiff upper lip, Princess Anne. She looks shattered. |

I feel deep empathy for a woman born into the monarchy she had no choice to live a life she chose, she was forced into this life from birth. The photo of the Queen all alone at her husbands funeral is heartbreaking, and I hope she is in Heaven with him right now. RIP.

Oh gawd no! Hope not. They told Vogue in 2019 that it would be two children maximum to “reduce their impact on the environment”. Possibly a dig at William and Kate? Plus they got an award for only having two kids. I’d place money that they would be more likely to adopt kids (if they were thinking of having more).

All past heads of state in the US are allowed a security detail etc. Jimmy Carter has apparently always flown commercial with his security. It can be done. Apparently Albo (Anthony Albanese, the recently elected Prime Minister of Australia) or the Governor-General or both didn't want to share a RAAF flight to London with the other, so RAAF were organising two separate private jets to take the head of government and head of state to London. Fuck's sake. Stick them and spouses and security on the next commercial flight to London, or make them share the same jet. It is INSANE the expense and carbon impact that is expected the world to pay for. |

Yeah I saw that too. I also saw that the Succession writer being snide in his acceptance speech. Can't they just keep their gobs shut for 10 days until after the funeral? Royalty is a an out of date institution but QEII gave her life to duty & when she was crowned in the 1950s the world was a very different place. Merely out of respect for her, the head of 14 countries (Inc Canada Australia New Zealand and some Carribbean countries). Can you imagine if it was the US President? No-one would be allowed to say a bad word about it (except if it was Trump).   What happens next  |
