Next thought: I guess the skipping to William thing was just a rumor BUT hypothetically could be still do that? Like wait till all the services are over and then pass the crown down? I realize it's far fetched but as an American I'm not sure of the rules. why on earth would he do that though? why would he even consider it? he's been waiting his whole life to be king.

It's always been one of those random unanswerable questions from school history class... I’m sure A*O* would know. 😝😜 According to this article, in 1953, England and Scotland agreed to a 'higher number' practice - the number is chosen based on whether England or Scotland has a higher numbered king/queen. So, it's Charles III because of the English number. Any monarch choosing James, Robert or David would be advised to follow the Scottish numbering because there have been more Scottish kings with those names than English kings.

No joke, literally 70 years. William won't have to wait that long and he can just wait his turn.

Except a lot of Scots accepted Charles as in "Bonnie Prince Charlie" as Charles III of Scotland. There was some big battles about it..... Although I guess they don't teach Scottish history anywhere else - the Jacobite Rebellion after which tartan (never "plaid") was outlawed, the Battle of Culloden and "sweet Williams" aka stinking Billy..... No? Anyone? Anyone? Buler???

I hate that winge & cringe are there. They should be searched for hidden recording devices. Give it a rest for a bit, ok? If you want to start down this line right now then go to Daily Heil and drop your load there. No? Anyone? Anyone? Buler??? From what I remember they barely teach English history. If it wasn't a Tudor it hardly got a look in. On a personal note, it's a very strange feeling to suddenly have King Charles instead of Queen Elizabeth. It feels a little surreal as she is all that the majority of the country has ever known. However I think Charles will be a decent and steady King. I wish my MIL was still here. She was in her 80's and would have remembered the death of George VI and Queen Elizabeth's Coronation so it would have been interesting to be able to chat to her about it.

I was sad to hear about this today, but after that announcement, not as shocked.
But I can't imagine a world without Queen Elizabeth in it. King Charles will be a thing to adjust to.
RIP Memaw.

That just made me think about her dogs. Great, now I'm worried about what's going to happen to them.

I didn't think he would, I was just wondering if it was actually a viable option because of the rumors. I didn't think it would ever happen, I was just curious of the rules involved and if was even possible. I mean he has been waiting a long time for this, he ain't giving this up.

I just don't have a lot of faith in her family. I really hope they go to someone that will love them and care for them.

It's now being reported that only Charles and Anne were with the Queen at the time of her passing. Both were already in Scotland when doctor's became concerned about her condition.
The State Funeral is expected to be held on Monday 19th September.
