Harry and Meghan have secretly flown into the UK to see the Queen at Windsor, the Mail can reveal.

It is the first time that the Duchess of Sussex has set foot on UK soil for two years after she and Harry acrimoniously quit as working royals and left the royal family reeling with their score-settling Oprah interview in which they accused an unnamed senior royal of racism.

She last saw the Queen at an awkward Commonwealth Day service on March 8 2020 but has claimed since to regularly speak to her on the phone and over video calls.

Harry, 37, has not seen his grandmother in person since Prince Philip’s funeral last April when he flew over briefly from their new home in the US. But their contact would have been limited because of Covid restrictions.

He has since launched a High Court legal action against the Home Office claiming it is too dangerous to bring his family to the UK after being stripped of his official Metropolitan Police protection.

It is not known how the couple arrived - whether they took a private jet or flew in commercially - but their presence is the talk of locals on the Windsor estate, the Mail understands.

They arrived incognito on Wednesday and are believed to have stayed at Frogmore Cottage, the home they have kept on despite quitting the UK where Princess Eugenie and her family currently stay, overnight.

They are not believed to have their children, Archie and Lilibet with them.

I wouldn't have the kids with me either, considering they are being denied the security they need. I don't even understand why it's a problem for them to pay for their own security. Does anyone truly believe they shouldn't have security for two of the most famous children in the world? With some of the richest relatives in the world? It's a situation rife with risks - none of which would be a problem if they weren't members of the queen's family.

I'm guessing they're on their way to the Invictus Games in Holland? It would be nice if they could smooth over some of the angst with Charles & the Queen. Lucky for Harry & Meghan, Will apparently still has his nose so badly tweaked by their popularity that he doesn't even want to see them.

Nobody is stopping them from paying for private security. But they want armed security and private security guards here can't be armed. Armed protection has to provided by the police.

Harry and Meghan have been told their security cannot be armed if they travel to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games - amid claims they've been snubbed by Netherlands King Willem-Alexander because they won't be offered a room at the royal palace.


The duke wants to bring his children to visit the UK, but he has said the family is 'unable to return home' because it is too dangerous, a legal representative claimed.

But Dai Davies, a former head of royal protection at Scotland Yard, said the idea that Harry is unable to come to the UK due to safety concerns is 'sheer unadulterated nonsense', adding that the duke is 'not an expert in security'.

Asked if the UK is an unsafe location for Harry, Mr Davies said: 'No I wouldn't. He would get the same risk assessment as every other royal.

'Most of them now don't get full-time protection or even half-time protection, so the truth is the UK is far safer than most other places. And with great respect, Harry is not an expert in security.'

I wouldn't put it past them to withhold contact to get some concessions from the Queen.

I must confess that my opinion of Harry/Meghan has been quite tarnished by either their actions OR or because of the way the press spins it.

Why would they take the kids when they are traveling for work, for one, and COVID is surging and the kids are too young to be vaccinated? I don't think there is some agenda in not bringing the kids. The Queen's recent health issues probably was a big reason for the visit.

They can afford security, that was never the issue. I don't think Harry's concerns are invalid, and given the furor over them in England, I don't think it is the safest place for them. Last I read, they are least agreed to coordinate with Harry and Meghan's security in the Netherlands, but that may be wrong.

I’ve just seen a film of a van being escorted into Windsor (or similar) & massive speculation that it’s H&M - since they are filming random vehicles ITA that their family would be at risk from some rabid lunatic fascists without police protection.

I bet Will & Kate's kids have armed security protection. Also, given the fact that basically no one has even seen these kids since birth they'd be a huge draw for all sorts of crazies. I think his concerns are valid.
