Ricky Martin denies ‘disgusting’ claim he had sexual relationship with nephew

Ricky Martin has denied having any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew, who has filed a restraining order against the singer and accused him of domestic abuse.

After news emerged that Martin had been accused by his sister’s son, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, in Puerto Rico, Martin’s lawyer Marty Singer said: “Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with deep mental health challenges.”

He said: “Ricky Martin has, of course, never been — and would never be – involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew. The idea is not only untrue, it is disgusting.”

“We all hope that this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But, most of all, we look forward to this awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts.”

News about the restraining order against Martin had emerged earlier this month, but the order was filed anonymously.

Hmm. Trying to see this from another side.

If there's family drama going on and/or the nephew really is mentally unstable, resulting in some crazy behavior on both sides that culminated in Ricky going up to that house to give nephew a piece of his mind and/or wanting to kick his ass, is it possible that the nephew is doing things like filing a restraining order and claiming said drama to be the result of an incestual relationship (a gay one at that) gone sour as a way to get back at Ricky?

Just trying to look beyond the scandal of this story to the facts.

As far as I know, Ricky is still married to his husband. They have and are raising four kids who are still teens and younger living in the home.

He's 50 years old, has had a career since he was a child singer in that band Menudo. I can't recall hearing about any legal troubles, addictions to substances, money problems, other erratic celeb-type behavior that could cause the implosion of his career and life in all this time. The most scandalous thing about him before this was just that he was <gasp> gay. A thing that really isn't even scandalous anymore.

Maybe just being gay is still a bigger deal in Puerto Rico as others in this thread have mentioned.  If incest even among consenting adults is a crime that could result in a long jail sentence over there, being accused of this would certainly be a good way to destroy someone if one wanted.  It also makes me think Ricky (who is no doubt aware of this) would be way smarter than to be engaging in it.  He's a rich celebrity and not bad looking.  If he wanted to fuck or have a secret relationship with a young man outside his marriage he could hook that shit up in a heartbeat without resorting to fucking relatives.  Maybe this nephew or other family members were trying to get money out of him. Maybe he was supporting them and decided to cut them off.

I dunno. Unless there is more proof of this relationship that I haven't heard about, when I think on it there's a lot of things that don't add up here. 

Hell, I have seen manipulative and toxic people do things like be the one to file a restraining order (when they are actually the problem) after a dust up just to beat the victim to the punch and set the groundwork to make it look like they're the ones on the receiving end of unwarranted abuse.

^^^Yes to all of that, but didn't his ex manager just recently claimed that she saved him from something that would have destroyed his reputation and therefor she had the right to sue him for 3 million? Which technically could be a part of a bigger plan to get money out of him or she meant something else...

I really don't know, I like Ricky, he always seemed decent.

Yuck, dude. Gross. I still think it's magnified because he's gay and famous, so they want to make an example out of him, but I can't even remotely defend him anymore.

Lofty, I agree, this has to be what the manager was threatening to spill.

And another thing, if it's true, I'd like to remind everyone how horribly damaging incest is. Even if they are "consenting adults," there is almost always a huge imbalance in power dynamic. Usually one is significantly older and more powerful in terms of the family and/or financially. It's not like it's a victim-less thing.

Remember how I mentioned that in my husband's line of work, the niche with the best online sales was "step-sibling, step-daughter/son" stuff? The sick appeal of this shit is more widespread than we think. It was the only nuclear fight I've ever had with him about his work. They keep doing it because the actors are of legal age and this is what sells.

I'm not even a Ricky fan but this whole situation is a bit fishy.

I never count out the potential for otherwise sane and rational men to engage in something risky enough to have life-altering ramifications when they are thinking with the little head.

But if Ricky made it as a celebrity and a gay Latino man all the way to age 50 without doing anything too stupid to fuck up his life I find this incredibly nuts. I'm sure he could get all the young dick on the side he wanted that he doesn't share DNA with.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was true either. If it is true then it's pretty wrong for them to try and use the nephew's alleged mental health issues against him.
They must have had some proof of harrassment to give out the restraining order.

there are documented cases of abusers taking out restraining orders against their victims, i don't think it's that hard to get one.

it'll be interesting to see how this plays out and if it's true or not.

I don't want this to be true for anyone involved, but I can't let go of Ricky freaking out about something so bad it could end his career. If it were untrue, why would he be that devastated? Or was it presented to the media, and all of us, as purposely spurious?

I guess now that the cat is out of the bag, they're posting pics of the nephew.

If that's the nephew he's cute enough. But definitely not ruin your life cute.

Good point. Very interesting. Why tf would a nephew claim to have had sexual relationship with his uncle? I seem to believe this and think grooming started a lot younger than legal age.
