lol at this point i'm wondering when - not if - i'll get it again. it seems inevitable. my only question is if i wait to get my 2nd booster this fall or get it now. i'm leaning towards waiting for the omicron-specific booster that's supposed to be out in the fall because i think the new subvariants are pretty resistant to current vaccines in terms of stopping infection, though they do still prevent severe illness.

Wait til October-ish. The Omicron hybrid vaccine will be important since the new versions of Omicron completely bypass the immunity we have from the previous vaccines.

I just had my "final" booster yesterday. Felt fine last night, woke up today with a sore arm (my typical symptom) but increasingly worsening body soreness as the day progressed. My ribs are really sore and hurt when I laugh. Crazy new batch of side effects, LOL.

My coworker is still feeling tired and has almost no sense of smell. She is pretty PO'd about it because she exercises 6 times a week and had both boosters. She wishes she had taken the Paxlovid her doctor offered her - because her husband's symptoms cleared right away (three days).

DarkJr just informed me that ExMrD and MrsD2 have it.
Guess it's a good thing he hasn't been over there in a long time and had no plans to anytime soon.

I have it, and our daughter has it. It turned out that Mrs Mo caught it after all on her German trip. Which is weird because the Germans seem pretty strict with masking, vaccinations, etc.
Anyway, I thouht Mrs Mo had tested negative, but she had tested herself three times and one of those times was positive. I don't know what I thought I was hearing. She had been masking the entire time she got back but only had a KN95 mask on after Thursday last week, when I got a free box o fthem from the place I volunteer at.
Anyway, my version has been incredibly mild. Symptoms started on Sunday. Fever got up to around 100. Had an incredibly runny nose, and a slightly sore throat. On Monday, I was blowing my nose every 10-20 minutes. On Tuesday, no runny nose, but woke up with what felt like laryngitis but I just needed to clear my throat. Mrs Mo made me take a COVID rapid test, and it turned bright red immediately. Then, she scheduled a televist with her doctor for me. She prescribe Paxlovid, which I've been taking since last night. My only symptoms today (Wed) are a very slightly sore throat and post nasal drip.
But anyway, Mrs Mo continues to be amazing and will be the main reason I make it into my 70's if that happens.

Glad you’re feeling better and that your case was mild. How are mrs mo and your daughter? It was just a matter of time anyway. I’m surprised you guys lasted this long.
I don’t know about germany but I’m in france again right now and it’s like covid? What Covid? I think I’ve seen two people wearing masks and I’ve been here a week. Vaxx rates here are really high though, I think higher than in germany.

I won't be surprised to have some kind of a rebound - trying not to take anything for granted.

I'm trying not to be too nosey, but I know ExMrD is a fat fuck (he lost a bunch of weight about a year or two post divorce, but that didn't last) with undiagnosed sleep apnea/snoring and sinus issues/allergies and drinks too much, likely also has hypertension and borderline diabetes but since he won't go to the Dr this is not officical. Mrs#2 is pretty hefty herself and has some medical issues, including a health scare a few years back.
I told DarkJr I had an extra pulse oximeter and if they needed it I would stick it in the mailbox and they could borrow it. Per Jr I believe he did get vaccinated (and I think her too), so hopefully they'll be fine. I also gave some helpful tips for Jr to relay to them, like what to do if this or that symptom.
I don't have anything to do with them at all since Jr graduated and ExMrD decided he was effectively "done" with helping supporting Jr (earlier than he was supposed to have been, but I never fought this because me having to deal with him and his bullshit ended earlier as a result, and it's not like I ever needed his money) but I'd rather Jr not have to go through his dad ending up in the hospital or gravely ill.

Someone dear to me died one week ago. She was 97, went in her sleep. I told someone who did a lot of work in her home and he adored her. During our conversation he asked me was she vaccinated? I said yes. I then asked him a work question and he went right back to "well, I was going somewhere with my question". I replied "well, don't, it's unnecessary".
He and I are working type friends, very chatty and we like to talk about preventative health. I knew he was an anti vaxxer - we just don't talk about that. I shut him down with his anti Fauci talk. I said I'm not discussing it, don't ever lecture me. Exactly those words. Kind of cold for me, but I had to be emphatic or it would never end. Was he really going to go to that place with my friend dying - at 97 - because she was vaxxed and boosted? He tried because he really wants me to listen to him.

I guess he thinks that he's caring as he doesn't want you to have whatever craziness they have attributed to the vaccine now.
I have a booster + my flue jab booked for 3 weeks time. Got a call from my drs to make an appointment.

For people who are anti-vaxxers, in the future I'm going to ask them if they take any medication at all. Like, why do you trust Pfizer to make Viagra, but not a vaccine? Do they take a statin? If so, why do they trust it? Some medication they may trust because it produces a positive result - 1) erection, 2) lower cholesterol readings?
