i'm not a picky eater in the sense that i pretty much like everything and especially if i'm traveling or eating out i like to be adventurous and i love going to markets and street food but also more fine dining experiences and everything in between. but at home without being picky per se i do like to eat as healthy as possible and i try to avoid inflammatory foods like gluten, refined sugar, etc. and i'm a bit of a hippie and like to buy organic as much as possible, i hardly cook meat at home except for chicken and fish occasionally, i don't buy any processed foods or anything with artificial sweeteners, etc.
i am picky when it comes to sweets. i love savoury but i don't have much of a sweet tooth and when i do crave sweet, it's specific things as i find most desserts kind of gross and overly sweet. not really into cakes and i hate brownies. i do like fruit pies and i love carrot cake with cream cheese frosting which is pretty sweet and rich but i could probably eat half a cake in one sitting if my PMS was bad enough.

I'm super picky. I'm basically vegan because I don't like anything. I don't eat meat or fish, dislike dairy and tons of other stuff. On top of that, I basically eat everything but real meals. Since I've gained to much weight lately, I'm now seing a nutritionist and she's apalled of my habbit to eat non-stop because I'm never full or feel satisfied from anythign I eat. Right now I have to do protein shakes and cut out sugar, fast food and unhealthy other stuff (I miss chips). I think it's an eating disorder I have more or less since childhood, but she hasn't said that.

I'm an extremely picky eater. I have the taste palate of a 5 y/o. Although, my 5 y/o niece will eat almost anything. It's fascinating to me the things she will eat without hesitation. My mom is a phenomenal cook & everyone raves about her eggplant parm & I'm like "I wouldn't know, I won't eat eggplant" *shrug* She also makes a coleslaw that everyone raves about & again, I'm like, "nope" But she makes plenty of other things that I love & no one else's (fill in the blank) will ever compare. There are some things my dad makes as well that no one else's will ever be as good as his. Both of my parents are excellent cooks & I hate to cook. My husband does 99% of the cooking. When we first got married, I tried being the cook, but at some point, my husband took over cooking duties & he's been the cook ever since! I don't even know when it happened, lol.
I also cannot do spicy. Even what most people call "mild". It irritates my tongue & the back of my throat. My dad has the same issue with it. I wonder if we have some type of allergy.

A lot of people consider me a picky eater because I don't like onions (and found out much later in life that the closer to raw they are the more likely to trigger a migraine).
Other than that there are just a handful of things I will not eat.

Other than that there are just a handful of things I will not eat. I would curl up and wait for death if I couldn't have onions as all my favourite meals contain them. My big food trigger for migraines is bananas and the riper they are, the harder and faster they hit. Apparently the thing in them that is the trigger (Tyramine) is also found in aged cheese too but that's not an issue because I think I might be the only person who can take or leave cheese lol.

I'm basically you then. Except for the sweets. I wouldn't say I have a sweet tooth but I love everything chocolate, berry or creamy. And I would definitely eat the rest of the carrot cake you mentioned. In one sitting.

Onions, peppers, celery (water with hair in it) are my main "No's". Not a carrot fan, but I'll eat them. I don't eat meat.

I am the least picky person on the planet. There is almost no food I won't eat. I don't care if it's gourmet, or organic, or highly processed. I can digest just about anything - never have gas or indigestion.
This has caused a problem between me and Mrs Mo and our daughter. Because I will get something that they don't like or do not think is high end enough. It could be coffee or beer, the cut of steak (filet mignon vs NY Strip), or whether I get Kahlua or some knockoff.
I love artificial sweetener - but mainly use aspartame because I had heard bad things about long-term use of splenda/sucralose.
Our son is pretty flexible, like me. Two years of eating boy scout camp food totally broke him. Now, he just appreciates stuff if it isn't burned or hasn't been dropped in the dirt at some point in the cooking process.

^^^ are you getting freaked out at all by all these stories about cadmium and lead showing up in dark chocolate? I don't know what to make of it. And why can't they just filter it out???

Interesting about certain foods causing migraines. I had a friend who couldn’t eat chocolate because it would trigger a migraine. I love chocolate, but I guess i wouldn’t if it did that to me.
I never had a migraine until I was in my early 30s, & when I was in my early 40s, an MRI on my neck that showed something going on at C4/C5 (I think it was that level)…anyway, I got an injection in my neck, & 2 weeks later got another injection & didn’t get a migraine for a year. When they started coming back, I went in and got just one injection in my neck (didn’t need the second one) and I haven’t had issues since. Occasionally I’ll get a migraine, but back then I was getting them several times a week.
The only food/drink that ever caused me a migraine was this peach wine we used to get when we’d go down to Fredericksburg when we lived in Texas. I only made the connection when I had the wine the second time & it triggered another migraine. Bummer because I generally don’t like wine, but I loved that one.

Onions, peppers, celery (water with hair in it) are my main "No's". Not a carrot fan, but I'll eat them. I don't eat meat. It's funny because I love all of these. Sautéed onions and peppers is something I think I could live on. I also love celery. My MIL makes a Persian stew that's basically called celery stew and it's one of my favorites. My kid loves it too. I even make braised celery for us to snack on sometimes.

I know it’s super easy but it would be a waste for me to make because I don’t think anyone else in my household would eat it. Maybe I’ll throw the idea around and see their reactions.

I make a celery salad. It's pretty much a basic salad, but instead of lettuce, I use celery. Celery, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, a little red onion, and a vinaigrette. You can add anything to it you like. It's super crunchy and so yummy. How did your friend make hers?
