I know I know, I am super late to this party, as I am only starting now to read this Actually, I had read the first book a while back and didn't care for it, to me it was a blatant case of plagiarism (of LoTR) that was barely covered enough to avoid a lawsuit (I mean, even Mat and Perrin sound like Merry and Pippin) and the series managed to make me want to continue, so now I am halfway though the 3rd book (11 more to go, woot woot) I really dislike Rand.

Honestly so far the plot isn’t that great. The world building though is cool, to me that is most of the appeal. The first book was a ripoff of lord of the rings, the 2nd one is one way too long McGuffin quest, and I still haven’t finished the 3rd XD

I read these years and years ago, probably when the Kindle first came out. My nerdy husband recommended them. I think I read 4 before I realized they were all kind of the same plot points just mixed up. We were in a local bookstore and I saw them. They were the books I'd totally mocked my husband for reading because the cover art was just SO nerdy/fantasy.
We just watched the Amazon Prime series and there were tons of details I had forgotten, like most of it. Husband loved everything about it. He even listened to them on audio book recently.
