Just watched this documentary, Shiny Happy People (Slimy Horny Perverts) and hopefully others watch it so we can dish. The spin off with the two girls? Apparently, they never got a dime!!!! Jill stated that after her birth on camera, they asked production to reimburse some medical costs and they said you already got paid. They were like what?? And they told them the family got paid, meaning Jim Boob. Enraging to think none of these kids saw a damn penny!!!!! I am now going back and watching old episodes on Youtube, and back in season one, Josh makes an incest joke. (Well it IS Arkansas).

It wouldn't surprise me if the boys saw some benefits, somehow, and it was only the girls who got cheated out of everything. So far it only seems to be the daughters who are breaking ranks while the sons are still sticking by Jimboob. Jedidiah has apparently been hitting social media "liking" any comments trying to shame Jill for speaking out. (Daily Mail article)

I watched it over the weekend. Nothing stood out or was even shocking to me but please consider that I have no faith (pun intended) in any organized religion as I think they are all money hungry pedophiles, who protect their own. Plus it was produced by the most exploitive production company out there.

Though I am super jaded and never watched any episodes, I am very sad for the innocent parties. And fuck that sworn officer who protected Josh because he was also a pedo.

I watched it. It actually explains a lot of what is happening now with the schools and congress, but that isn't covered until episode 4.

I binged all 4 episodes yesterday. I just happened to stumble on upon it. I’ve never watched any of the Duggar shows, but I’ve read a lot about them on here. All I can say is that their “religion” (cult) is even more fucked up than I knew. The “education” these kids get is atrocious. IDK how it even qualifies as education. It seems like it’s equivalent to an 3rd or 4th grade education. And the way the girls & women are treated is disgusting. Pretty much anything bad that happens to them is somehow considered their own fault. So gross. I can go on & on, but I won’t.

Having grown up a "fundie" not too much shocked me watching the doco (although full disclosure I fell asleep a few times and might have missed something outrageous). Even for fundies tho, these people are nuts. The blanket training of babies?? WTF!

the blanket training piece was pretty awful to see. I've heard about it before, but to see an actual demonstration was gross. Only watched the first two eps. I hate Michelles voice with a passion.

Bobye Holt now has a 10 year protective order against her husband. The same one who said it was ok to continue dating her when he was 19 and she was 14, because she was "developed". Excuse me while I go throw up.

I'm surprised that this hasn't been a bigger deal over the years. I remember hearing about it a long, long time ago on the old Free Katie board because a few of the posters there were also active on Free Jinger and cross posted.


On a side note, there was already a lot of speculation even back then that Josh the Paedophile was a sex offender of some sort, and this was back in the era of TomKat (so around 2005/2008-ish?).  I also find it hard to believe that TLC didn't get a single whiff of what was going on during all those years of closely collaborating with JimBoob and being around their day to day lives as people who weren't a part of the Quiverfull movement or had escaped it years before were very much talking about shit not being right with him.

I'm sure TLC knew or at the very least has suspicions. The Duggars were a cash cow, so they milked it for all it was worth. It's not like TLC has some moral highground, look at their programming over the years.

I feel bad that the kids were ALL exploited by both TLC and their parents. I think kids in both reality TV & on all those family youtube vlogs need a lot of protections similar to kids in hollywood (and we know those kids get exploited, too).
