Maple syrup and butter of course. Any toppings would work for me though.

My favorite pancakes are these wheat germ granola pancakes that have granola and dried cranberries sprinkled on them from a local pancake house. They are delicious.
I'm a butter and syrup girl on any pancake.
These days I'm making Kodiak Cakes- no butter, just a smidge of syrup.

we eat pancakes in argentina but they are more like crêpes, very thin, warm, and with dulce de leche.

Today is National Pancake Day (google if you don't believe me) I'm more of a french toast girl. With butter and Smuckers strawberry syrup. Also some triple sec in the egg/milk mixture. And cinnamon. I haven't had pancakes in ages, but if I did, it would have to be with butter and warmed Mrs. Butterworths syrup. Cause that's how my grandma made them.

i don't like sweet breakfasts in general so i never order or make pancakes or waffles as the main, unless it's chicken and waffles. but i like a little bit, for instance if i'm out for brunch with friends and we'll order pancakes or waffles for the table and that way i get one pancake with my savoury meal which is really all i want, instead of a whole stack of them.
at home, i sometimes make oat-banana GF pancakes because they're the easiest thing ever, you blend oats, bananas and oat milk and voilà. i usually have them with an egg on top so sort of sweet-savoury.

i love pancakes. but i don't eat them so often because when i do, i am really hungry again right away.
i like light ones topped with lemon curd. and there's an old school coffee shop nearby that serves what they call 'german' cakes. they are really thin, have crispy edges. drenched with melted butter and a bit of fresh squeezed lemon juice, dust of confectioners sugar on top. they are amazing and this description doesn't do them justice. more like a decadent dessert than breakfast.

we eat pancakes in argentina but they are more like crêpes, very thin, warm, and with dulce de leche. that's how we made them at home too, a much thinner batter than US pancakes/hotcakes which are very thick. for toppings it varied, sometimes dulce de leche, there was always nutella because my siblings loved it. i liked just sugar and lemon juice which is also the only way i like sweet crêpes and sounds similar to what czb is describing.

Blueberry pancakes with a topping of lots of fruit warmed in a little jam.
