I didn't get to see on Old GR if anyone watched it. I found it streaming and got caught up. I was never lover of SATC but I watched it in reruns on regular tv. Never saw the sex, just the cleaned up show. So I like Carrie's wardrobe, she should never wear a tight bun, they made Miranda off the wall, like a kook and Charlotte is the same. I seriously thought the series was Carrie's dream (like Pam Ewing's dream on Dallas), because I didn't think they'd do what they did (no spoiler).

ok. i get that the women are >50 but they keep doing things on the show that makes them seem like they are 80. bad hair, bad makeup, steve with the hearing aid, out of touch with current social norms, etc. that really irritates me. this show has become my hate watch. and i don't usually hate-watch anything.
as for miranda, she seems like a caricature. and i don't like the che character, she's like an amalgamation of all >2020 sexual/gender trends. i don't find her appealing at all.

Agree. I'm close to their ages here. There is no way I'm as "old" as they portray these women on this show.
I also don't like that they're trying to turn Miranda into basically the real life Cynthia Nixon. Is she getting tired of acting and wants to simply play herself?

i dunno. miranda was always pissed off and now she's just out of touch and weak.
i remember talking with one of my (gay) friends back when SATC was running. she asked WHY didn't they just make miranda gay? that always stuck with me. i always thought she was constantly peeved and that had little to do with her orientation.
i am their age as well. i realize that i am more in line with gender fluidity/ID because i have middle-schoolers who are hyper-aware and are constantly educating me, but even if my spawn weren't around, i can't imagine that i would be as dopey as miranda. it's like she hasn't picked up DB/HuffPo/anything since 2001. #SAD

I haven't watched this, so I don't know about the age thing and how they are acting... but funny thing I saw today. The characters on this show are in their 50s... which is the age the Golden Girls, save Sophia, were supposed to be when their show was on. Funny how we viewed the 50s in the 80s vs. today.

Agreed on all the points above! What's also weird about AJLT is that there are almost no SEX scenes. Che fingering Miranda and one reference to Charlotte giving a blow job, but in the old show, those women were having sex with someone every week and loving it! Hey HBO, where's the sex?

I like all the storylines except Miranda’s. I don’t even recognize her character.

I tried SITC and didn't enjoy it so obviously I've not watched AJLT but there's been a lot of conflicting articles about it (which I have read cos, y'know, snark). I posted this over on OG-GR:
I guess their confidence was extremely misplaced because now SJP is saying that she absolutely does not want Kim to come back, which is odd considering (highlight for spoiler) in the last episode Carrie talks with Samantha by text and they arrange to meet that night. It kind of smacks of "You can't say no because we don't want you anyway! So there!"
