The actor Angus Cloud, best known for his role on HBO’s teen drama Euphoria, has died at age 25, his family confirmed to media on Monday.

Cloud’s publicist, Cait Bailey, said Cloud died Monday at his family home in Oakland, California. No cause of death was given.

“It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today,” Cloud’s family said in a statement.

Cloud’s father had recently died, the statement said, and the actor “intensely struggled with the loss”.

“As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways … The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.”

Cloud, who was from Oakland, rose to fame on Euphoria playing drug dealer Fezco “Fez” O’Neill. He quickly became a fan favorite.

Cloud hadn’t acted before he was cast in Euphoria. He was walking down the street in New York when casting scout Eléonore Hendricks noticed him. Cloud was resistant at first, suspecting a scam. Then casting director Jennifer Venditti met with him and series creator Sam Levinson eventually made him a co-star in the series alongside Zendaya for its first two seasons.

“We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud,” HBO said in a statement. “He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and ‘Euphoria’ family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.”

He was recently cast to co-star in Scream 6.

I saw this yesterday, & it made me so sad, for so many reasons. From what I read, his father had passed very recently & he was struggling to cope with that. It also said his mother was the one who called 911 reporting a "possible overdose." Just breaks my heart. Too many people are losing battles within themselves. It's especially sad when someone who is so young feels so burdened by their pain that suicide feels like the only way to make the pain stop.

I don't know that it's a suicide, because unless there was a note, I'm not sure if they can ever determine whether the overdose was an accident, or deliberate. But in light of the recent loss of his father, which he took really hard, it seems to be more likely that it was.

He was my favorite character on Euphoria, & he is in my 2 favorite scenes from it.
I don't even care about season 3 now, because all I wanted to know was what happens to Fez.

Its' a big problem for the show.  If I remember correctly, the last season ended with a police bust at Fez's place and a shootout involving Ashtray.  It makes a lot of sense to assume that Season 3 would have picked up right in the aftermath of that shootout - which Fez survived.  I don't know how they are going to handle that.

He had such a unique energy about him on the show, chill yet criminal, caring crook with a heart of gold. I can't imagine a replacement actor matching that.

His character did get shot. If I remember right (been a while), it was a shot to the abdomen. They could kill his character off, which would be entirely believable with that type of wound, but damn that seems really callous, since he really is dead. I’m glad I’m not in the miserable position to have to make those decisions.

^ Yeah, it was the season-end cliffhanger, Ash was obviously dead, but Fez was up in the air. They showed him on a stretcher. I don't think they were planning to kill him off. He was really the heart of the show. And I wanted to see what happenened with him and Maude Apatow. It's just so damn sad.

Fez was the adult and Ashtray was a minor in a shootout that left Ashtray dead. Was this house where Fez kept his drug stash?

i watched the first season of euphoria and kind of lost interest despite the great performances. i liked him and there was definitely something haunting about him.

I'm pretty sure this is their pseudo mom's house, so home to them as well. I seem to remember her as bedridden and Fez took care of her the best he could. I hope he kept his stash elsewhere.

I don't think Fez was involved in the shoot out, he was trying to get Ash to stop. But Ash had to do his best Scarface and keep shooting until he was dead. Fez wasn't his legal guardian or even a blood relative and I doubt there's a paper trail anywhere. Didn't the "mom" get him in a drug deal or something? So really, on paper, he doesn't exist.

He looks very sweet, and it is so sad if life was just too much for him.
