Not to be nitpicky, but she was rushed to the ER. Then transferred to the ICU. It appears she's medically stable now. But yeah, scary. Poor Lourdes. My first thought also with bacterial infection is some of the artificial shit she is having put into her body these days. I first heard this on the radio this morning. They were reporting that she was having some of her plastic surgery reversed and go the infection that way. We'll never know I guess. |

And with the understaffing nightmare in America due to greedy corporations, anyone could get an infection in the understaffed hospitals nowadays. She is lucky she made it alive.

unless this is a prince type scenario where she became an addict late in life because of surgeries/injuries, i don't see madonna ODing. she's always been way too much of a control freak for drugs.

Her face has been unusually puffy, and not just with bad PS (though there's that, too). Could be a case of moon face from steroid use due to some chronic illness. Perhaps that could play into it?

I really have trouble reconciling this bizarro Madonna with the one I knew/read about in the 80's and 90's. Back then, I would read about her fitness regimen. Her macrobiotic diet. No TV's in the house, etc. She looked like the best version of someone her age. And now, I see this desperate, funhouse version of her, and it just seems like either all the stuff she had done for herself didn't work out, or she didn't have the discipline to stay with it. I would believe just about anything at this point. It's really freaking sad. I kind of think of Demi Moore the same way. |

I read or heard somewhere that she'd been running a low grade fever for a month. It seems she would know she was getting worse before she was at the "unresponsive" stage and possibly in septic shock. That's why I wouldn't rule out drugs. Also the Narcan.

But would the people who found her, the ones who live with her and know her best, recognize the symptoms of septic shock? If they gave her Narcan, they probably suspected a drug overdose. If she'd been stressing those overworked joints getting ready for her tour, she may have been in a lot of pain. So she may have taken opiates for the pain and taken too many. It could have been an accidental overdose.

I think Madonna has phases of her life, where she gets knees deep into something and then eventually moves on. For example, during her Ray of Light phase she was a master yogi and Buddhist. During the early 90's everything was sex and S&M. After Evita she was all glam and proper etc.
I think she's at the "oh shit, I'm old and idk what to do" phase. She hasn't really put out new music, her body is not working or looking the way it used to. With all her PS and who knows what other surgeries she's had like on joints, tendons, whatever, I could definitely see where she'd be administered narcotics for medical reasons and that we have a case of accidental overdose.
With that said, a few years ago my mother went into the hospital for sepsis and other things and I while I don't know the whole details I do know that she was feeling ill for about a month before she finally collapsed. Some people are just stubborn and won't go to the doctor.
