Chrissy Teigen has welcomed her fourth child with John Legend, the model revealed in a surprise announcement on Wednesday. The couple have welcomed a son named Wren Alexander Stephens via surrogate. The child was born on June 19, 2023. Chrissy, 37, shared adorable photos of the child, who was named after his surrogate Alexander, as she shared the big news to Instagram. Wren's arrival comes just months after Chrissy and her husband welcomed their third child together, a daughter named Esti. The couple are also parents to daughter Luna, seven, and son Miles, four.
The happy news came nearly two years after she and John lost their son Jack 20 weeks into her pregnancy. She later revealed that her late son's passing was the result of a life-saving abortion, not a miscarriage as she originally stated. In her lengthy post, Chrissy described the surrogacy process, mentioned her late son Jack, and watching Alexandra, 'the most beautiful woman', give birth to her child. Chrissy described becoming pregnant again with Esti, despite initially not wanting to carry another child again after losing her son Jack. She was even pregnant at the same time as Alexander. Chrissy first learned she was expecting Esti, and not long after Alexander became pregnant with Wren. www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-12243929/Chrissy-Teigen-John-Legend-welcome-baby-number-FOUR.html

I don't understand why they'd rent another woman's womb, exploiting her, if they already have 3 healthy children. It seems selfish to me.

I have no idea but maybe it was to do with losing Jack at 20 weeks & being "in contract" or something (I have no idea how surrogacy contracts work).
That said, kudos to her for honouring her carrier unlike some *cough* "celebrities" (using the term incredibly loosely!).

^^^Yeah, they named the baby after the carrier, that's something. I'm now informed. Chrissy was pregnant with Esmi and they used a surrogate, too. Maybe that was because in case that she'd lose Esmi, they'd still have a baby. Kinda understandable, after the loss of Jack. I still don't thinkt hat surrogacy is a fair thing to do, but in this case, I kinda get it.

Yep. Having babies if you can't have babies is all about how much $$$ you can throw at it.
Still sometimes even that isn't enough.
But, yeah, they have two beautiful kids.... (& Now 2 more) but imagine the 1st two not being "enough".
I don't know what the right / wrong answer is.

That's a beautiful baby, but he has some crazy hair!
As for using a surrogate, if I couldn't carry a pregnancy through to term and I could afford it, I'd definitely consider it.

There's a whole subreddit dedicated to ragging on how fake she is about pretty much everything. And she's very weird, as well. Strange, strange woman.

I read an article on Huffpost. She's always wanted 4 kids. They were going to only do the surrogate after the loss of their son, but she decided to give IVF another try. They also decided to continue with the surrogacy. There's an instagram post in this article that explains the whole thing... if you're interested. Chrissy Teigen And John Legend Welcome Their 4th Child Via Surrogate Son Wren's birth comes just five months after the arrival of their daughter Esti in January. By Kelby Vera Jun 28, 2023, 04:19 PM EDT Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are now parents of four. Teigen announced the arrival of their son, Wren Alexander Stephens, in a thoughtful Instagram post on Wednesday, sharing how their baby boy was born Monday, June 19, via surrogate. In her post, the cookbook author detailed her unique experience being pregnant at the same time as her “incredible, loving, compassionate surrogate,” Alexandra, who gave birth to Wren just five months after the star welcomed daughter Esti in January. Teigen decided to pursue IVF while working with her surrogate in hopes of achieving her dream of having four kids. The star and Legend already shared daughter Luna, 7, and son Miles, 5, at the time. Five months into Teigen’s pregnancy, she learned Alexandra was expecting their baby boy. They celebrated by watching reality TV “with our growing bellies, our families blending into one for the past year,” she said. “Just minutes before midnight on June 19th, I got to witness the most beautiful woman, my friend, our surrogate, give birth amidst a bit of chaos, but with strength and pure joy and love,” Teigen continued. “We want to say thank you for this incredible gift you have given us, Alexandra,” she added. “And we are so happy to tell the world he is here, with a name forever connected to you, Wren Alexander Stephens.” Chrissy Teigen and John Legend attend the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscar Party on March 12, 2023. The couple recently announced their fourth child, a son named Wren Alexander Stephens. “Our hearts, and our home, are officially full,” she added. Teigen also remembered their late son Jack writing, “We know both their angel kisses are from you.” The model and her EGOT husband lost Jack in October 2020 after she experienced complications while pregnant. Teigen wrote about her experience on Instagram at the time, sharing, “We are shocked, and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.” Though Teigen’s pregnancy loss was widely reported as a miscarriage, she later revealed she had a life-saving abortion as the doctors told her she was carrying a “baby that had absolutely no chance” of surviving birth. “Let’s just call it what it was,” Teigen said during a talk in September 2022, “It was an abortion.” Teigen and Legend Welcome Baby Number 4

I'm actually quite touched by her tribute to the surrogate.
Then I'm a bit angry and sad that kindness and gratitude are rare enough that they are cause for surprise and praise.

I don't think it's selfish to have more by using a surrogate as a backup to their pregnancy nor do I think they felt that the first two aren't enough. Some people want more kids.
I think it's nuts because it would be nuts *for me* but they obviously have the resources to ensure a kid won't be neglected, and she doesn't strike me as addicted to pregnancy attention in the same way Hilaria is. I don't think it usually turns out that way by default, but I'll concede that some parents can make the effort to devote enough attention to 4 kids. I just think it's far more difficult than anyone wants to admit. And I certainly wouldn't want to do it.
But after their losses, good luck to them.
