Apparently, it happened yesterday... Was wearing a helmet, too. Loved him. DORSET, Vt. (AP) — Actor Treat Williams, whose nearly 50-year career included starring roles in the TV series “Everwood” and the movie “Hair,” died Monday after a motorcycle crash in Vermont, state police said. He was 71. Shortly before 5 p.m., a Honda SUV was turning left into a parking lot when it collided with Williams’ motorcycle in the town of Dorset, according to a statement from Vermont State Police. “Williams was unable to avoid a collision and was thrown from his motorcycle. He suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York, where he was pronounced dead,” according to the statement. Williams was wearing a helmet, police said. The SUV’s driver received minor injuries and wasn’t hospitalized. He had signaled the turn and wasn’t immediately detained although the crash investigation continued, police said. Williams, whose full name was Richard Treat Williams, lived in Manchester Center in southern Vermont, police said. Did not know he dated the awesome Dana Delany (back in the early 80's):

I always liked him too. RIP.
Gotta say I was surprised to hear it was a motorcycle accident. At 71, I expected a health issue like a heart attack or something. He was apparently very active and flew planes too.

Dorset is not far from where I live in VT, pretty sure it's like 25-30 mph through that whole main drag of the area where the accident was.
As someone who lost a cousin and a grandfather to motorcycle accidents, I don't understand why anyone rides them.

Dorset is not far from where I live in VT, pretty sure it's like 25-30 mph through that whole main drag of the area where the accident was. As someone who lost a cousin and a grandfather to motorcycle accidents, I don't understand why anyone rides them. My uncle had a devastating motorcycle accident nearly 40 years ago that was not his fault. It’s believed he swerved to avoid and animal, hit oil and chips on the shoulder, lost control and went head first into a Utility poll. His helmet, that was a recent purchase, cracked like an egg and a piece pierced his skull/brain. Turns out the helmet had been recalled several years before. My aunt had proof of purchase that lead to a quick and much needed large settlement from the manufacturer and the store that stocked it despite the recall. After waking up from a 6 month long coma, loosing 10 years of his life’s memories including meeting his wife, learning how to read, write, etc again one of the first things he asked about was where was his bike, is it fixable and when can he ride again. The bike is actually restored and in his garage. He’s never ride again because my aunt was not having it. And in his now childlike state in many aspects he listened. My husband rides and I will not get on a bike. I did the safety training classes with him and hold a motorcycle license. It was for my peace of mind. And while i trust him personally to be as safe as he can I don’t trust others to keep him safe on the road. While not all bikers ride safely most do, especially non sport bike riders. Most accidents involving bikes out my way involve cars as the cause of the accident.
