Danny Bonaduce to Undergo Brain Surgery After Battle With Mystery Illness
Story by Jeremy Dick • 2h ago
Actor and radio show host Danny Bonaduce now knows what he's dealing with amid his ongoing battle with what was a mystery illness, and the next step is to go under the knife for brain surgery. In April of last year, Bonaduce announced that he had to take a "temporary medical leave" from his radio show, The Danny Bonaduce & Sarah Morning Show, noting that he had some health issues and was still trying to find a diagnosis. A few months later, Bonaduce had addressed his symptoms in an interview with Good Morning America, noting he still hadn't gotten that diagnosis after repeated visits to medical professionals.
“I couldn’t walk at all. I couldn’t do anything like that," Bonaduce explained, noting how this began with his wife, Amy, noting that his speech was starting to slur, among other issues. "I couldn’t keep my balance. I slurred really badly. I was afraid of everything. I was afraid of my stairs for God’s sake – I was hoping for a diagnosis but did not get one."
Now, Bonaduce tells TMZ that he's finally been diagnosed. The former child star, who rose to fame with his role on The Partridge Family, has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a neurological disorder caused by liquid building up in the brain. Bonaduce is set to undergo brain surgery on Monday to drain the luquid through a shunt. Though he's optimistic, Bonaduce also says there's a chance this won't completely alleviate all of his health issues.
"I don't want to get my hopes up too much that I'll be cured," Bonaduce said.
