Wait staff claim these celebrities are the best and worst tippers (and some may surprise you!)
Hollywood A-listers were ranked by hospitality staff in Reddit threads online
When you have as much money as A-listers in Hollywood do, you'd imagine that most of them would be more than happy to leave servers with a generous tip.
But Reddit threads from waiters claim that despite having a lot of money, some celebrities will still be stingy - or worse yet, rude.
Some also expressed their surprise at the most generous tippers out there, praising their patience and manners despite a more abrasive public persona.
American screen icon Jeff Goldblum was praised for his kindness, as were other huge stars like British chef Gordon Ramsay and Bruce Willis.
However others - including fan-favorite Laura Dern and the 'Godmother of Soul', Patti LaBelle - apparently failed to make a good impression.
FEMAIL looked at confessions from two threads - one started by user u/gatsbygirl93 and another in the r/TalesFromYourServer subreddit - asking hospitality staff about their experiences with celebrities, and the replies may leave some surprised...
CHARLIE SHEEN
The 57-year-old Hollywood star is known for a number of scandals and an erratic public persona. However, he's been praised for providing one server with a '10/10 celebrity experience'.
'Charlie Sheen came in to the cafe I work in with one of his daughters,' user glimmer_glow wrote. '
'Super polite, tipped extremely well.'
WILLOW SMITH
Will and Jada Smith's daughter Willow, 22, was said to be an absolute delight to one server.
'A co-worker of mine a few years back waited on Willow smith,' Aynotwoo said.
'She was super nice to her apparently and left a really good tip.'
JEFF GOLDBLUM
Jeff Goldblum, 70, pictured in 2016. The American star is known for his charisma, and was said to be charming to wait staff
It's perhaps no surprise that this American star, 70 - known for his charm and charisma on the screen - also proved to be a hit with one waiter.
'Exceptionally nice, very funny, great tipper,' the poster, siliconbased9, gushed.
GORDON RAMSAY
He's known for raising his voice and using crassly colorful language to get insults across.
But this British chef is apparently a delight to serve - which may come as no surprise to fans, as Gordon Ramsay, 56, has famously been kind to waiters on his reality show, Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares.
'I served Gordon Ramsay once, I was very nervous because of his TV persona but he was actually very polite, probably the most polite customer I've ever had, he didn't even tell anyone to f**k off,' scraps120 penned.
'At the end of the night he requested to see the head chef and shook his hand in appreciation and tipped us £100.'
ROBERT PLANT
Despite being the frontman of the biggest bands in the world, Led Zeppelin, British musician Robert Plant, 74, was apparently 'very chill' to serve.
'He had a Philly cheesesteak with no bread and tipped 20%,' siliconbased9 wrote.
'He was messing with the bartender, younger girl...
'He told her he was in a band and she asked "is it a band I might have heard of?" And he's like "no, probably not, we never hit it that big."'
BRUCE WILLIS
Bruce Willis was a great tipper and a true gentleman,' Redditor stetsonman420 said of the Die Hard star, 68.
'He came up and shook my hand and thanked me for the service.'
MIKE MYERS
User SnarkMasterFlash said that Mike Myers, 60 - a Canadian actor best known for his comic chops - was generous with his tip.
'I waited on Mike Meyers [sic] at the height of his Austin Powers phase,' the explained.
'I did the entire Dr. Evil speech for him. He thought it was great. Good tipper.'
WHOOPI GOLDBERG
User stetsonman420, who has 'served a bunch of celebrities' was full of praise for Whoopi Goldberg, 67, adding that she's a 'great tipper'.
They said was also 'very down to earth, an incredibly sweet and nice person'.
TONY HAWK
The skating legend, 55, is known for his laid-back humor and kindness to fans. And it's perhaps no wonder that this extends to hospitality staff.
One server who waited on Tony Hawk while they were in college, EL_Geiger, said he was 'one of the kindest humans out there' and a 'good tipper too'.
Elsewhere, SourCreamWater added the star was 'cool as f**k' and 'tipped them $200 on an $80 bill'.
NICK CARTER
Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter, 43, is also said to be a great tipper.
ZobbyRN recalled serving the 2000s icon at 'a popular seafood chain', along with Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and DJ AM came in.
'Nick carter paid with a debit card and tipped $30 on $110,' they revealed.
'They were all super nice and took pics with us.'
TOBEY MAGUIRE
Tobey Maguire, 47, is best known and beloved for his portrayal of Spiderman.
And one server, doonbroonz, was full of compliments for his attitude.
'I regularly served Tobey McGuire [sic] at my last job,' they wrote.
'And he was really nice and tipped really well every time he came. He even remembered my name (and a lot of the other long term staff) and would always greet us really kindly and stay out of the way—wouldn’t make a fuss if the kitchen or bar were backed up.'
...AND THE WORST
LAURA DERN
Many fans of the 56-year-old actress, known for her roles in Jurassic Park movies and, more recently, Marriage Story, will be heartbroken to learn that she was 'kinda entitled' when served by siliconbased9.
'$9 tip on $371,' they added. 'So it actually cost several dollars to wait on her.'
PATTI LABELLE
'Patti Labelle [sic] is really demanding and not the best tipper,' Long-Cockroach-8372 wrote about the R&B legend, 79.
Patti LaBelle is apparently 'not the best tipper', according to one Redditor in a thread, who also called the singer, 79, 'really demanding'
BRANDY
Brandy, 44, nicknamed as 'the Vocal Bible' and best known for her 1998 hit The Boy Is Mine, was called 'one of the worst people ever' by server Iamurfriend.
'She came in once a week or so, almost never tipped, almost always complained.'
