Morning Audiobook listeners! Just curious about which service you use, I have just started an Audible subscription - which I honestly can't believe is a tad more expensive than Disney+, Netflix or HboMax, you'd think something with no pictures in it would be cheaper I was told they had a broad catalog and was to lazy to compare so I went with it, I'll let you know what I think of it later !

I've been an Audible subscriber for years (probably 15!). Their customer service is excellent - if there's anything wrong or you just didn't like it, they remove it and give you your credit back. I've rarely not found a book I was looking for and they run regular sales 2 for 1 or reduced credit pricing (right around Christmas, no surprises). The narrators are awesome, but if you don't like one you can exchange the book.

Yup!
In the past I have had to top up my audible subscription.
Tiny pixie - I really recommend the Ben Aaronovitch “rivers of London” books, the narrator is awesome. I also enjoy Joy Ellis (fairly local to me) and audible have loads of “free” stuff. And Michael Connolly Bosch series.
I’ve bought cd audio books in the past but never really found any other audio book service

I caved a bought a yearly subscription - that round up at 6-7$ per month, which is fair. Now I listened to books in the subway instea of reading Twitter, which is a lot better for my rage level XD So far I’ve only listened to 4 books but I’ve enjoyed their narrators. Good to know that their customer service is also top. I am pretty impressed with the ton of free books they indeed have. Most of them are not stuff I’d want to listen to but that is still super neat that it’s there.

I have an issue (ADHD? Possibly?) listening to novels, but eventually I gave up and it was how I got through working at the place. I listened to The Terror, Tolstoy, Chekov, Dostoevsky, non-fiction about current affairs and politics and some spy novels for good measure. I even listened to the Senate Special Committee Report on waterboarding on there. It was weirdly a godsend to keep me sane (the books, not the in-detail stories of waterboarding). That said, I can't listen to novels in my house. I always day dream and have to start them all over a million times.(And I hate listening to anything other than music in my car most of the time and I do not wear earbuds when I'm walking around.) I'm better at listening to true crime podcasts because they're easier to stop and start when I'm getting ready in the morning and that's about it.
All that said, I have 10 credits that I need to use at Audible. But I do love the service because they have tons of included stuff and lots of selection for classic books and options for narrators which is nice.
As to the best audiobook service, Audible seems like it's the most streamlined service but I haven't really tried out that many so far.

I only listen to audiobooks in the subway, when my hands are busy with my embroidery (hobby number 672 ^^') At home I can't focus on the recording either, I also usually have some podcast or Youtube channel that plays in the background but that is not meant to hold my attention. So far one credit a month is enough to cover my home/work commute
