We did this on the old board. I'm definitely an over-the-top, schmaltzy romantic person. This scene popped up in my head while listening to movie themes.
In the first Superman movie with Christopher Reeve, while Superman is saving the world, Lois's car falls into a fault line that Lex Luthor caused with his crazy plan. Lois is killed and Superman gets back to the car in time to find her body. He flips the f*ck out and does what his father Jor El told him to never do - use his powers to alter human history. But because of his love for Lois he flies Earth into a reverse orbit, and turns back time just to the point where he can fly back and save Lois.
And because Lois has no idea what happened, she kind of chews him out and basically says, "Now, you show up. I could have been killed out here."
Anyway, I love it and miss my personal Lois right now...LOL

This is one of two really touchingly romantic (to me, at least) scenes in "Four Weddings and a Funeral". I saw this in the movie theater. I remember thinking of Kristin Scott Thomas' character as acerbic, sophisticated, intellectual and kind of dismissive. So, when she declared her long-time secret love for Hugh Grant's character, it really hit me like a ton of bricks.

omg loved him so much in that movie, the first time I'd ever seen him. Of course, he turned out to be a jerkoff, so Kristen was so better off without him.

Hugh Grant is such a good actor that he completely fooled us into thinking he was this innocent, awkward guy. I know I was surprised.
This was the other scene that I thought was really romantic, because it underscored in a really searing, bleak way the depth of feelings of one person for another, especially when revealed by the loss of them. It's Matthew reading a brief poem at the beginning of the funeral for his partner, Gareth. It's been a while since I saw the movie, but I remember Gareth being a type A, life of the party person while Matthew is kind of low key. Losing Gareth is not just losing his life partner, but I felt like it was losing someone who opened up life in general for him.

"As Time Goes By" scene from "What's Up Doc". I loved how Streisand's zany character relentlessly pursues O'Neal's nerdy anthropologist. "Igneous rocks! Igneous rocks!"
I also really like how she pauses so that he has to say the "I love you" portion of the song to her. Followed by a comically disastrous attempt at kissing him.

It was also the height of the HIV/AIDs crisis & a lot of gay men were dying. It was an unspoke homage to all the loves lost (IMHO, YMMV)

I love this movie "Spiderman - Far From Home". And this is the scene where MJ (Zendaya) finds out that Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is Spiderman. But it is also romantic. Throughout the movie, it's shown that he has a crush on her and is trying to figure out how to make a move - because her character is very sharp, sardonic, and aloof. This is the scene that melts the ice and is basically the start of their relationship. Just funny and awkward and exciting. His behavior kind of reminds me of how intimidated I was when I finally got it together to ask Mrs Mo out because she had a reputation as being strong and taking no BS from anybody....

Sense and Sensibility - Emma Thompson's tears are just so amazing and goofy Hugh Grant stammering through. <big gooey sigh>

When I first saw this scene from It's A Wonderful Life I was blown away by the chemistry between the two leads. And more than thirty years later, it's still electrifying! Most romantic scene I've ever watched, although I'm not a fan of romance/rom coms. I've never seen a Hugh Grant movie and Jane Austin leaves me cold!

There's a scene near the end of Kal Ho Naa Ho (Tomorrow may never come) but I can't find a clip with subtitles. The lead characters are madly in love but can't be together for...reasons, and they come together hugging and crying while SRK (male lead) insists that he doesn't love Naina, even though we know he does. This whole movie makes me cry, but especially this scene. Wait, you said romantic, not sad. Well, I guess it's both.

It ripped my guts out 20 years ago and still rips out my guts, even now!

MrsFawlty, yes, that's it! Any time I need a good cry, I put on that movie.
