Tom Sizemore’s family deciding end of life matters, rep says

The family of actor Tom Sizemore is currently “deciding end of life matters” following an update from doctors, according to a statement CNN received Monday evening from Sizemore’s manager Charles Lago.

“Today, doctors informed his family that there is no further hope and have recommended end of life decision. The family is now deciding end of life matters and a further statement will be issued on Wednesday,” the statement said.

“We are asking for privacy for his family during this difficult time and they wish to thank everyone for the hundreds of messages of support, and prayers that have been received. This has been a difficult time for them.”

Earlier this month, Sizemore, 61, was hospitalized in intensive care after suffering a brain aneurysm. “Since that day, Tom has remained in critical condition, in a coma and in intensive care,” the statement from Lago noted.

The Detroit-born Sizemore had an early, small role in the Oliver Stone 1989 film “Born on the Fourth of July,” and had his break in television playing Sgt. Vinnie Ventresca around the same time, in the ABC series “China Beach.”

He appeared in a number of hit crime and war movies in the 90s and 2000s, including “Heat,” “Natural Born Killers,” “Pearl Harbor” and “Black Hawk Down.”

He is perhaps best known for playing Sgt. Mike Horvath in the World War II movie “Saving Private Ryan.”

Other notable roles for Sizemore came in the titles “The Relic,” “True Romance” and “Bringing Out the Dead,” the latter costarring Nicolas Cage and directed by Martin Scorsese.

The actor nabbed a Golden Globe nomination in 2000 for best performance by an actor in a miniseries or motion picture made for television for his role in “Witness Protection.”

More recently, he appeared in episodes of the hit series “Twin Peaks” and “Cobra Kai.”

Sizemore has long struggled with drug addiction, and had a string of legal issues over the course of his career.

He was convicted in 2003 on domestic violence charges related to his relationship with Heidi Fleiss. He told CNN’s Larry King in a 2010 interview he had been addicted to cocaine, heroin and meth, and he participated in the 2010 season of the reality show “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.”

Dr. Drew said Tom was one of Celebrity Rehab's success stories. Not sure if he's really been sober all these years since, but if so, it's sad that he only made it to 61. I'm actually surprised he was only 61. I guess all those years of self-abuse finally caught up to him.

Cast- and crewmembers of Sizemore’s 2003 film suggested to the Hollywood Reporter that they agreed to talk about the incident with the 11-year-old actress because they were inspired by the nascent movement toward industry transparency in the post-Harvey Weinstein era.

They indicated that it bothered them that Sizemore was never officially investigated for the incident or faced any consequences. The most satisfaction to be had, according to a second assistant director, was seeing Sizemore get locked up over the Fleiss conviction.



But his legal troubles didn’t stop. In July 2016, he was arrested following an incident with a woman at his apartment in Los Angeles

In January (2017) he pleaded no contest to two domestic violence charges. But he told the Daily Mail he only agreed to the plea deal in order to avoid a 210-day jail term.

“I have never hit a broad in my life,” he said, implying that the woman in the 2016 incident was trying to get money from him or her 15 minutes of fame. “I don’t know why she did it, she wanted to get on TV and sue me, or something.”

I remember the blind about Black Hawk Down. I think it specifically referenced harassment at the male cast. Let me go find it.

Just after the turn of the century there was a movie. Based on a dramatic true story that proved to be the big break for many, now well known actors. It had a big cast of men, essential to the nature of the movie.

Among this cast were a considerable number of young, relatively unknown, foreign born actors from a certain country. For many of them it was their first time on a big budget film, or their first time working with a big name director or, for some, their first time working away from their home country, and they were eager to please.

Another actor on set was more well known, while not being A list by any stretch he had a secure career and was friends with the A+ list director among other influential people. He was also, even then, a massive sleaze, and didn’t discriminate by gender ( although lately he is more well known for leaning towards women.)

He saw a vulnerable group and set out to make some of their lives miserable on set. Bullying and sexually harassing whenever he got the chance. Eventually, as he became more of a bully and things got more physical, three of the actors stepped up and made a complaint to the director.

The director met with them, and said that he would talk to the Sleaze but warned them not to make any formal complaints or they would never work again. The Sleaze was reprimanded but this only made him worse. He knew no one would say anything.

The three actors have continued to act and have successful careers. One of them, more recently, had his career sabotaged by the most famous sleaze of all. But is back on track now with the lead in a TV show.

The second keeps a low profile, and is kind of an introvert, but always has interesting projects on the go, mostly working on TV, theatre and Indie stuff.

The third you all know from his turn in THAT franchise. And THAT OTHER franchise.

The Director was caught in another pervert related quandary recently. That case was so high profile he couldn't cover it up and had to make big changes to his movie.

The Sleaze got #MeTooed and will probably never work again. Karma’s a bitch.

I'm sure he was doing his usual thing, too, but the harrasment of multiple male actors really stood out to me.  Based on the hints, it sounds like the actors were from UK, and they would include Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, and Hugh Dancy.

Orlando Bloom is a good pick. I excluded Hartnett because he is American. He also had just starred with Sizemore in "Pearl Harbor", so Hartnett was already established on a major American production.  I just realized Ewen Bremner had been in Pearl Harbor, too, so that would exclude him based on "Black Hawk Down" not being his first major American production.

It's kind of strange to me how closely together both of these films were shot - both in 2001. "Pearl Harbor" before "Black Hawk Down". Cast members who appeared in both:
