Every time I see this thread my first thought is, "Who the hell is Lottie Moss?"

I love Jamie Lee Curtis and think she’s a better actor than both of her parents. Nepotism works sometimes. Also, I don’t think Lottie is anything model worthy. JLC has been open about her parent's names opening doors for her. She admits that she got the role in Halloween over another actress because the producers knew her connections would generate additional buzz around the film. But she's also worked her arse off since then rather than expecting her name to be all she needs for the rest of her career. I have a lot of respect for her.

Technically, Sean Penn (and Chris Penn) and Robert Downey Jr are nepo babies. Their dads were directors Leo Penn and Robert Downey, Sr. Nicholas Cage was almost like a reverse nepo story. He acted under his real name, Nicholas Coppola, for his first two films. In the second one ("Fast Times at Ridgemont High), though, he was teased relentlessly by Eric Stoltz about being a nepo baby because he was the nephew of the famous Francis Ford Coppola. Ironically, Cage and Stoltz were playing the stoner friends of Sean Penn. In all films after that, he took the last name "Cage". Jamie Lee Curtis - Daughter of Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh John Huston - Son of Walter Huston Anjelica Huston - Daughter of John Huston and Enrica Soma Emma Roberts - Daughter of Eric Roberts, niece of Julia Roberts Michael Douglas - Son of Kirk Douglas Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez - Sons of Martin Sheen The list goes on and on and shows that the rise of Nepo Babies isn't actually a rise at all, just a continuation of what's always happened. Now, of course, we have the internet and social media so they become better known for far less but in a few years time more than a few of them will have floated off into relative obscurity because they don't have the talent to propel them any further and someone newer and younger has come along to edge them out. Here's my thing- all of the above a talented actors. imo. Sure, having a parent or other relative in the business allows for name recognition, some favoritism and maybe some favors called it. But, to remain working, never mind as successful and with the longevity they have, that requires skill and talent. I'm a nepo baby here at work, in a sense. My dad worked here my whole life, my sister worked here until she had kids, two of uncles worked here for a few years as well. While, my dad's name may have helped me get through HR screening (EVERYONE knows my dad- his position had him interfacing with everyone top to bottom for 30 plus years. And everyone raves about how they loved him and his retirement saddened them, it's not the same, blah, blah), my skills set got me hired and my work ethic that has keep me here and steadily rising until I've now hit the ceiling. On the other side, many folks around here are related, our institution prides itself on being a generational employer.
