Stephen "tWitch" Boss, best known as the dancing DJ and sidekick on The Ellen Show, has died by suicide at 40. Confirming the news to People magazine, the TV star's wife Allison Holker Boss said he was "the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans". Boss became an integral part of Ellen DeGeneres' US talk show from 2014, until it finished earlier this year. DeGeneres tweeted on Wednesday to say she was "heartbroken" at the news. She described the American freestyle hip-hop dancer and actor as "pure love and light". "He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart," she wrote. "I will miss him." The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to the BBC that its West Valley Division officers responded to an "ambulance death investigation" radio call at a motel on Ventura Boulevard on Tuesday. There were no signs of foul play and the case has been handed the over to the Los Angeles County Coroner's office. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-63972353

I'm shattered. He was huge on So You Think You Can Dance and he was light and love and dance. The last person I would expect to take his own life. He and his wife were amazing together.

^ I was really surprised to see this news. He did seem such an upbeat person. But as this shows you can never really tell what is going on with someone.

He always seemed like such a lovely, wonderful (super talented) guy. This is awful beyond words.
And I just saw that he and his wife celebrated their anniversary three days ago. This is heartbreaking.

I am incredibly sad. Such a bright light. Tremendous talent.
He seemed so happy... again it reiterates you don't know what people are going through.

Oh no, he seemed to be such a happy, cheerful person. Just goes to show, you never know what torment lies behind the public facade.

This is so shocking to me. I loved him on SYTYCD. Saw bits of him on Ellen when I'd bother to watch and was really happy he landed a steady gig. Talented and seemed genuinely kind. RIP Twitch.

As everyone else here, I am also surprised by this. So very sad. He did always seem upbeat & was very likable. As others have said, you never really know what is going on with someone.
