Well, whether it's her or not, I'm here to say that "I'm shocked" or "whoa" kind of reply--don't say that to folks in real life. It is just as offensive as saying "wow, you got REALLY fat!" I mean, that happened to me the summer after I graduated and it couldn't have been more than 15 lbs. at 18 years old, the prime of my life. But no matter the age and weight, it's always a shitty thing to hear on the receiving end.
I mean, yes it is a big difference to absorb as an outsider. I get that. Just not something anyone needs to hear. They have eyes and mirrors.

I don't think any of us would say something like that directly to someone IRL. If anything, this thread is more sympathetic than the usual GR thread where people talk about celebrity kids who are even more vulnerable to criticism. I'll never forget someone describing Salma Hayek's toddler daughter as looking like an "angry Aztec god".

Breathtaking is our euphemism that stuck. But I would never say something negative in front of a celeb about their kid if I actually met them because I have manners. I mean, I'm sure that little angry Aztec god was/is the most beautiful thing ever to her. And that's how it should be.
If this is Bridget I'm shocked. I'd probably be less shocked if she'd been in the public eye where we saw her regularly. If I don't see anyone for a million years and they look completely different it's always going to be a shock. That's why if I wanna talk about it I do it here and not on twitter where I'm tagging her to make sure she can see it. It's shitty enough that someone is comparing her to what she looked like 30 years ago when we have no idea what her life is now.

That's what I say, you talk shit about someone, you have the manners to do that shit in private.
Then again, I also think any celeb or public person really should know better than to read what strangers say about them online. Just assume people are assholes online.
Also, WTF is going on with Danny Elfman? In that green screen pic, he looks scary. Why is he blue?

What is there to say? Woman leaves Hollywood to live out her life outside the spotlight. Any comment about her appearance seems totally useless. All the best to her, sounds like she has it made: living on a ranch in Santa Barbara with her family, surrounded by animals.

Man, one of the few times I say something mean about a kid and it lives in infamy, LOL.

To those who still aren't sure it's her--check out the tattoo on Danny Elfman's chest. Looks to me like the same australian shepherd dog photographed with Bridget.

Ultimately, the point is that I sometimes get the feeling that people are supposed to hold back on their observations about someone based on a narrow situation. If a celeb has gained like 80 pounds, I think it's kind of a sad, but interesting phenomenon for discussion purposes. It's not like we are trolling her on Twitter or something. The very fact that half the posts here seemed to be doubting it was her in the first place is very telling. Related to Danny, I don't know what's going on with him. He kind of looks like a vengeful Aztec god himself.

I was going to quote mo to say just that when you fessed up.

To be fair, if Salma Hayek was my mom but I ended up saddled with the mug of Francois-Henri Pinault, I'd be a vengeful Aztec god in more ways than just looks.

Since very few people recognized her in these photographs, it makes one wonder what the comments would have been like if she'd been photographed while shopping at Walmart and the pictures would have ended up in that thread...... Probably still mild comments, because then she would have been the best dressed person shopping at Walmart.

Fat or not. It just doesn't look like her at all. I dunno, possibly a smidge if I try really hard. If it is then I'm shocked. It has to particularly suck getting older and fatter when you used to be known as a famous actress, which included the seemingly effortless maintenance of a typical level of actressy thinness. I'm always curious when this (someone falls off this hard) happens though. Does menopause REALLY do this? Or is she depressed, ill, etc? Did she just stop giving a solitary fuck? Was keeping her weight under control for decades until now a struggle? I mean, we're talking about someone who definitely has the resources to maintain a certain look if they really want to. i think another possibility to consider is that she wasn't being healthy all those years that she had her weight seemingly in control, maybe the only reason she managed to stay thin is that she had a drug problem, or a severe eating disorder. it might explain why she retired so young and basically disappeared from the industry. lots of people with eating disorders also have depression, anxiety, etc. which could contribute to weight gain as well (as do the pills prescribed to treat them). either way, the daily fail needs to leave her the fuck alone.

Yeah. What Sput said.
Leave her the fuck alone. Honestly, there should be a group of stealth paparazzi who out every aspect of Daily Mail and Sun executives and editors and writers and expose every nasty little thing about them and follow them around constantly just waiting for them to run a red light or have spinach on their teeth or snap at the grocery check-out person, or spend over five dollars on a pair of pants.
I'm all about the gossip on the Kardashians or more traditional celebrities, but by their own admission, Bridget Fonda hasn't been in the business for 20 years.
