Fat or not. It just doesn't look like her at all. I dunno, possibly a smidge if I try really hard. If it is then I'm shocked.
It has to particularly suck getting older and fatter when you used to be known as a famous actress, which included the seemingly effortless maintenance of a typical level of actressy thinness.
I'm always curious when this (someone falls off this hard) happens though.
Does menopause REALLY do this? Or is she depressed, ill, etc? Did she just stop giving a solitary fuck? Was keeping her weight under control for decades until now a struggle? I mean, we're talking about someone who definitely has the resources to maintain a certain look if they really want to.

I won't lie, I totally see myself in her. Same weight, with clothes, hair worn for comfort. I'm not as old as she is, but still older than I imagine myself. I'd hate to imagine how I'd feel if someone was taking pictures of me on the street walking my dog, all for the sake of showing how I'd "let myself go." I mean, let people schlep and be sloppy! More people should try it sometime, it's liberating. Me too. I am much heavier now than usual and my eyes are so small in photos. My face is always round, but so much rounder and fuller. I've adopted a real comfy work wardrobe. Honestly, I don't care right now. I'm stressed to the max, just leave me alone.

More people should try it sometime, it's liberating. Oh, there are plenty of people who schlep and are sloppy! Just go to any store and you'll see them, some are still in their pajamas! I always tried to look decent, even if just doing a grocery run. Fix my hair, put on a little makeup. Jeans and a clean t-shirt at minimum. Because you know, the one time you don't, you'll run into someone you know. Since covid, I admit I've lowered my standards. My hair is a mess since I haven't had a cut and color in months, and half my face is covered up with a mask so who gives a shit about makeup. It just gets the mask dirty. If and when this ever ends, it will be hard to get back to my normal. Fat or not. It just doesn't look like her at all. I dunno, possibly a smidge if I try really hard. If it is then I'm shocked. Oh, I don't know that it's ALL menopause, just think it's probably a factor. Sure, there are naturally skinny people out there, but I think for most it takes more and more effort to maintain your weight. There are a few menopause age women in my neighborhood who look great but from what I'm told, one of them just doesn't eat. Sorry, but I'm not giving up food. I've been trying to lose some weight but it's honestly for health reasons more than vanity. But I'm not willing to starve myself. I also wondered if she's having health or depression issues. It's definitely possible. I think depression has hit many of us in the last 2 covid years.

I love food too much to starve myself. But I have given up carbs except for non-starchy veggies and the ones in my occasional handful of nuts and berries. Or occasional dark chocolate square.
It's my way of being able to enjoy stuff but get/keep this weight down to a manageable level. And not just for looks.
Covid and the health shit I have seen others go through in the last couple years has made me determined I can't be overweight or obese. When I am officially no longer overweight (because I still am, even though I've lost plenty) according to the BMI chart I'll stay in maintenance mode.

This is just plain rude. Why take pictures of someone who isn't even an actress any longer? Obviously photographed and printed to show how much weight she's gained.

Purely anecdotal, but menopause does typically cause at least a bit of weight gain. My mom was always stick-thin (4-6 US) and became a size 12 (oh, the horror!) after menopause. Of course she looks perfectly fine but having been super skinny her whole life it was an adjustment for her.
OTOH - I had always been a bigger person (usually 14-16, but 10-12 now) but when I went through it I didn't change much. I do move WAY more than I did pre-menopause, though. Nothing crazy, I just walk and/or do yoga 6 days a week. I still eat like crap, which isn't great. Im also on a mild dose of HRT and I'm told that tends to keep the weight related side effects away a bit.
I'm sure it largely depends on the individual woman and her overall body type and lifestyle.

I'm menopausal and had gained 15 kg (around 35 pounds I think) before I fought back and lost them. During the pandemie, I've gained back 5 kg. No Make-Up, my skin reacts allergic to almost everything and after I ended my HRT 2 years ago, the hot flashes that plagued me since 2009 came back, not THAT bad anymore, but still. My OB GYN told me that I'll probably have them forever. I'm one of 10% of women who suffer that long and hard.

She is not a public figure and hasn't been in more than a decade. Why are the fucking with her?

I remember seeing this last week in DailyMail. And there were something like 3,400+ comments on the story already. People were FURIOUS. It really touched a nerve with commenters that someone who had been retired for around 20 years was held up to public scrutiny like this. Particularly for a person who really has never been in the press for a negative reason as far as I know - just keeping to herself.
I think it particularly touched a nerve with women. Mrs Mo was like "there are a thousand different reasons she could have gained this much weight - menopause, thyroid problems, medication, etc.

She retired and removed herself from public scrutiny, they have no cause to take pics and try to shame her. A pox on the daily fail.

Was keeping her weight under control for decades until now a struggle? I mean, we're talking about someone who definitely has the resources to maintain a certain look if they really want to. I didn't think it was her as well. I was looking for anything to indicate it's her and I had to look hard. Then I saw the profile photo in the car. That's her nose. This is just plain rude. Why take pictures of someone who isn't even an actress any longer? Obviously photographed and printed to show how much weight she's gained. I'd like to know how they all of a sudden found her. Was she coming out of her house? She is not a public figure and hasn't been in more than a decade. Why are the fucking with her? She's a Fonda and a (now) a really good tabloid story. I always liked her work. She had a nice quality. I hope she's healthy. I see distress, possible thyroid, diabetes, heart and joint issues, high blood pressure, maybe a former eating disorder. She's not taking care of herself. This looks more than like a fuck you to Hollywood standards. Is that a 150 to 200 lb weight gain within 10 years? Danny Elfman - take a look at his new look. (I tried to post all these photos and couldn't). www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-10457513/Danny-Elfman-68-UNRECOGNISABLE-tattoos-messy-hair.html
