The Queen's granddaughter Lady Louise Windsor has been working several days a week at a garden centre over the summer for around the minimum wage, it has been revealed.

The 18-year-old daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex has been earning £6.63 per hour since finishing her A-levels in June - despite living in a £30million mansion in Bagshot Park, Surrey.

She confirmed her place at the University of St Andrews after receiving her A-level results, Buckingham Palace said yesterday. She will read English at the Scottish institution, where Prince William and Kate Middleton met.

At the garden centre - the location for which has not been disclosed - Lady Louise is said to have been helping out on the tills, greeting customers, pruning and potting plants. 

While the security arrangements for her job have also not been made public, her parents Edward and Sophie are thought to only receive police protection when on official duties and engagements. 

One shopper told The Sun: 'I knew the cost-of-living crisis was bad, but I didn't think I'd ever see a grandchild of the Queen working in a garden centre.'

Another customer added: 'The staff seemed to adore her. It's not every day you buy your begonias off a royal.' And a third, who was served by the royal, said: 'I couldn't believe it was Lady Louise, I had to look twice. 

'She is a really modest and sweet young woman who is polite and attentive to customers. She seemed to be loving the job. You'd never imagine the Queen's granddaughter would take on a role working behind a till.'

It was refreshing to read that about Lady Louise. Not much is said about her and it's nice to hear of a royal being hard working and down to earth.

I'm pleased the actual location wasn't given though it probably wouldn't be hard to figure out!

It takes a lot more to please me than adhering to the bare minimum of decency by not revealing the actual location. They get no points for this because (as mentioned already) it would not be hard to figure it out.

The dog — named Momma Mia — was one of 4,000 beagles seized by authorities last month after the testing lab was shuttered due to numerous animal-welfare violations. The Envigo plant, which sold puppies for use in pharmaceutical and biotech research, was found to have kept the dogs in deplorable conditions.

Many of the dogs were found malnourished and kept in cages where feces and food waste piled up. More than 300 puppies died at the facility between January and July of last year.

Shannon Keith — an animal rights attorney who runs the Beagle Freedom Project and who has taken in many of the rescued beagles — told the LA Times that she received a call from an unlisted number and had no idea who was on the other end.

“She calls on my cell with no Caller ID and says, ‘Hey Shannon, this is Meghan,'” Keith recalled. “We talked for 30 minutes, and I thought, ‘Is this Megan Fox?'”

She only discovered the identity of the mystery caller when the royal couple made a low-key, after-hours visit to see the dogs at a San Fernando Valley house. No photos were taken and the couple was accompanied by two security guards. Mia had been taken there along with eight of her newborn puppies.

Keith added that, unlike most people who want to adopt puppies, Markle wanted to help an older dog.

The animal rights activist says that the “Suits” alum held Mia and announced, “We’re adopting her. She was like, ‘No, we don’t want a Christmas puppy … We want ones we can help, who are older.”

A spokesperson for Markle told The LA Times that the Duchess had read of the Envigo research plant shut down and wanted to help.

Markle has been a vocal proponent of adopting rescue dogs. When she moved to the UK in order to marry Prince Harry, she brought along her rescue beagle named Guy.

i think it's hyperbole for the racist treatment she received from the british tabloids who are racist, right-wing pigs, unless she's referring to a specific incident. anyone remember the 'straight outta compton' headline about her and the really shitty racist dog whistles in that?
she's definitely a tad dramatic (even if the south african cast member story is true, i wouldn't repeat it because it comes off as comparing herself to mandela which, like, no) but she's right to fight back and at least try to control her own narrative.

I think you can know and not know. I feel like I have as clear of an idea of the workings of the RF as any American can, but I didn't expect it to be as bad as it was.

None of the Royal Rota publicly called Archie the N word, but I have no doubt that more than a few thought it and probably said it privately and maybe not so privately, and there certainly have been plenty of dog whistles. I agree that was some hyperbole from Meghan but she had plenty of reason to feel the way she felt.

The RF was really stupid not to accept the half in, half out plan.

So Charles and Harry have no relationship. That's what I thought but the tabloids, with some help from Charles, were trying really hard to make it seem like there was some thawing during the Jubilee and Harry and William were the main problem.
