That is an ugly portrait. I don't understand why they are looking to the side -- i t makes Bill look particularly bad. ...and to be realistic, she should be wearing suede pumps in the painting. his head looks like a giant pear.

I think what Kate is wearing in the portrait is pretty ugly but I don't think the painting itself is bad. Remember that one of just her from a while back? That one was atrocious.

The artist is obviously very talented but there's a lack of warmth between the subjects. Then again this is Bill and Cathy we're talking about...

It’s just like the Diana statue. Technically they well done pieces but the final product is underwhelming or just odd. This looks like an awkward photo rather than a planned portrait.

Fascinating. The artist did a brilliant portrait. There's a lot to unwrap: Kate's almost painful thinness, her bright yet frumpy dress and shoes, and William's hand-in-his-pocket lack of participation. Then the big stuff: they aren't looking forward, and while connected to one another, it is very loosely, and they certainly are not looking at each other. No, they're both giving a side-eye to the rest of the world that very clearly telegraphs, "Peasants." I'm dead. This is a brilliant work of art.

Edo always looks like his nose is sunburnt. Maybe he's a lush, or else he needs to carry around a tube of sunblock.
Bea's dress is trailing like badly hemmed curtains, but otherwise she looks kind of cute (for her). She's lifted her game a lot lately.

I think Bea looks nice here, I don't love the sloppy buttoning in the chest area but otherwise I think the dress is pretty and her hair and face look nice.
I don't trust her man, he gives me off vibes.

Married life is treating Bea well but I agree that he's...I don't know about him. It's sad that she has so many sketch men in her life. She looks pretty and happy, though. And I'm jealous of that hair volume. I am not feeling that portrait. I think Kate's face is very pretty but it reminds me of the original art on VC Andrews' book covers. I'm stuck in my old foagie ways so I expect every portrait to look like a Rembrandt or Gainsborough or John Singer Sargent or Andy Warhol. I don't know, sometimes new paintings look cheesy to me and I can't put my finger on why. It's not bad and obviously better than anything I could ever hope to do, so I don't know what the problem is. constancespry I can't stop laughing about Will's head being a giant pear.

czb I just realized what you said about Susie Bick. LOL, of course she has it on her feed. I was thinking Kate's dress choice was kind of bizarre...

Now that they're married I'm sure they want to pretend this is some sweet love story. But I can't forget he was engaged to someone else he either already had a baby with or one on the way when they started fucking. But Bea wasn't getting any younger and this guy is definitely an opportunist. So I guess it was a good match in that there's something for everyone to gain in it. As long as the first almost-wife and baby mama accepts the narrative that she wasn't done dirty and has moved on and is happy with things. And bonus points (for them) if they can have her saying nice things about them. Or better yet, nothing at all.
Curiously: You can't find a lot of info about this anymore. I'll bet a lot of that has been scrubbed. Imagine that. This is why I love(d) having GR as an archive. We are the keeper of ALL receipts!
