People read into things what they want to based on how they already feel about him. At this point I don't think it would matter how scripted his spiel was. Especially in the UK.
I'm not getting an unstable vibe here. Just a bit clueless and careless with words.
Bill is the one I suspect is a powder keg and an entitled narcissist. But you'll never know the half of how fucked up he is because it will stay behind closed doors with lots of image protecting enablers. I want to feel for him because he suffered his mom's loss too. But TPTB have raised him a certain way due to him being the heir and he's become quite accustomed to things revolving around him (and resenting it any time they don't).

i'm not getting unstable so much as not too bright and shouldn't be talking to the press without a script, especially since he knows that everything is going to be misinterpreted. so even if it's intended as a casual istatement in the moment people are going to go out of their way with the mental gymnastics to interpret it every which way possible. there's nothing wrong with what he said, it just sounds like he's saying that she was there in spirit for both of them, first for william since he had kids first and now for harry. i don't see how that makes him unstable or how it's an asshole statement or a low blow? For me it’s a low blow because the phrasing makes it sound like “oh she’s done with Wills and it’s all about me and mine”. Your dear sainted Mum can watch and guide all of you simultaneously. I mean I get that he has trauma related to her loss at a relatively young age. And it’s a loss felt more deeply I’d imagine when you have children of your own. I think Harry’s biggest problem, like many of us, is what we mean isn’t always what’s communicated or interpreted. |

I think you have to already be predisposed to find fault in anything that comes out of his mouth if you interpret that as “the ghost of my dead mom likes me better than my brother and when I megxited, she did too in solidarity”.
Just imagine if this phrase came out of the mouth of two anonymous brothers you knew nothing about, it would literally be some trite mushy nonsense about dead mom’s presence being there for older brother and kids and moving on to little brother when he and his wife had kids and needed her most. The only reaction it would elicit is eye rolling from those of us who aren’t into trite mushy stuff.

This is such an asshole statement and a low blow pot shot at Will, imo. I don’t understand what about this is an asshole statement. He is saying that his mom watched over and guided his brother as he grew up and then started his own family and now she is watching over and guiding Harry as he does the same. William has an established life and family, her mom realizes that she’s done her job with him and now she’s helping Harry establish his. There was nothing wrong with what he said. |
