it's true that it's super well made. the clothes, the locations, they even filmed at la mamounia in the same riad that anna stayed in. i think a lot of it is very accurate in terms of hte facts themselves but a lot of dialogue and other stuff is kind of embroidered around it. i was reading that the journalist vivian is based on actually did lend anna clothes for court, but in real life it wasn't the big deal that they made it out to be in the series. that kind of thing. but they had input from the journalist, from anna herself and from rachel for the show, as well as a lot of the other people.

ok. rachel. hmmmm. even though she is a WHINER of the utmost degree, i actually sympathized with her until she said that amex excused the charges. then i thought she was a loser.
one of the things i liked about IA was that there were a bunch of super annoying characters but you could still like them/sympathize. except for anna. hate her.
and the clothes - they were amazing. AJLT should've used that stylist.

rachel was insufferable and a user and a mooch and an entitled brat and but she's not a criminal and i felt her pain when she was trying to get anna to pay her and she was still on the hook for all the money.

yes, agree with that. but they didn't reveal until the court scene (SPOILER) that amex paid for the trip. i changed my mind after learning that.
i'm still stunned that so many people fought for anna. she was totally loathesome.

I'm also in the middle of Inventing Anna - it's an interesting story and I love Julia Garner but I'm so sick of Veda Sultenfuss' overdramatics about her pregnancy I might stop watching. I just finished Anna. I so agree with the pregnancy overdramatics. Between that and Anna's annoying accent I about lost interest. Such an interesting story and I liked so many of the supporting characters -- the lawyer, the journalists in "scriberia" -- but I wanted to slap Vivian upside the head more than once and put subtitles on for Anna and turn down the volume. Anyone else notice that Anna's character is Vivian Kent... which is a character in Legally Blonde? I kept thinking about Selma Blair and her argyle sweater vests and pearls.

her voice is higher pitched and definitely has more vocal fry, and would have annoyed me through 9 episodes. i think i prefer garner's version. also, in that interview, i'm seeing a resemblance to kirsten dunst, who totally could have played her too if this had all happened 10 years earlier.

that was the first time i noticed the resemblance to KD. earlier pics made her face look pudgier. i guess all our faces looked pudgier when we were younger ....

i finished the last season of 'search party' and it is batshit fucking insane, and even that is an understatement. the previous seasons had each kind of parodied specific TV genres and tropes, from true crime to law and order type courtroom dramas to true crime torture porn with white women held hostage by psychopaths with secret basements. with the last season they took on everything from wellness to influencer culture and so much more that i don't want to give away. and the guest stars... everyone from jeff goldblum to john waters to trudy styler. so good. Yep, fun to see all the guest stars, Goldblum's outfits were awesome. Deborah Rush's face freaked me out though, she already looked scary in orange is the new black and things haven't improved. Susan Sarandon looked really good though.

Peacemaker is filled with childish toilet humor, violence, and bad 80's hair band music. And I love it.

From reading everyone else's thoughts on IA maybe I should give it another shot. I kinda hated the first episode, especially the journalist's over dramatics and Anna's accent was so grating. But I was in a crap mood yesterday so it's possible anything would have pissed me off 🤷🏻♀️

i finally watched 'what we do in the shadows', the TV show. i adored the movie and i'd been kind of resisting watching the show i don't even know why other than mild apprehension about a TV adaptation of a movie but it is HILARIOUS! i forget who it was (there might have been several of you) who told me to watch but thank you! i was in such a pissy mood yesterday and this was exactly the super funny but also reassuringly low stakes comedy i needed. i finished season 1 and can't wait to watch the rest.

I talked a lot about that series in the former forum, I LOVE it, especially Nandor, all his lines are priceless “Nooooooooo, I am pillaging everyone, you included !”
